Pete I went to the first niter at Wigan and the last and most inbetween nothing what was played at Wigan after 75 ish was has good as what was being played by Searling Rushbrook & Brady until the later years in my opinion but we all have Differant tastes you like stuff like Benzine Village of tears which in my opinion is the biggest load of tosh every played at any soul club LOL Me I like Jnr McCants Try me Nomads Something Bad Ray Agee losing again Cashmeres Showstopper Court Davis Magnetics ect ect ect like I said different Strokes... Wigan casino was a great nite long before the All Niters started in Sept 73 Fridays & Saturdays where always great nites with a great mixture of sounds played including sounds that where played at the country's top soul clubs Major Lance ,Edwin Starr where amongst many artist that appeared at the Casino before the Niters started thus when Russ started the Niters it had a good young crew of regular punters that carried on going to the Niters Wigan in the 70s was the Top Alniter / Disco after the Torch shut musically after 75 until 79 ish it was pretty poor but after 78 Richard S Pat Brady, Gary Rushbrook, ect ect started playing some terrific tunes that ave stood the test of time as rare northern soul ie Walter & the Admerations , Court Davis Ray Agee Admirations You left me Paris , William Powell, Jnr McCants try me King a Pat Brady spin and many many rare 45s that are still to this day sort after by the Collecters Worldwide Love Him or Loathe Him Russ Winstanleys Wigan Casino Alnighters have left a legacy that cannot be overlooked in the Worlds Music History great venue in its day right time in history .Personally I find it really bizzare that some folk keep trying to recreate the past with Wigan Casino this and Casino that but hey Differant Strokes for Differant folks some find it bizzare that I go match angling LOL But for the Casino we would,nt have met so many nice people and become life long friends with so many .. Years ago someone on SS cant remember who put Romona in touch with me she wanted a scan of her recording of you,ve been cheatin has she had,nt seen it I lost the mails years ago that she sent me when my hard drive crashed on the pc I had at the time but she told me the Story about the Label owner Otis Clark who was jailed quite a long stretch for some serious offences.. I've had a few copies over the years couple in the early 90 s think they came via Rod Shard and Dave Withers the copy I'm playing know is the one with the longer intro and it's one of the copies from Rod & Dave I will play it just for Ted the Tie at Prestayn to see if his dance moves have improved over the last decade lol

The secret in buying at Soul nites or Nighters is hunt down the seller with small sales boxes it's amazing what you can get cheap I took a 30 count box to the last Lowton and sold £800 in less than 1hour to Rob Smith , Kev Murp and a couple of other guys .Personally over the years I've had some amazing 45s from lookin through small sales boxes ...

Quite a lot of the main Wigan Casino photos in black n white that have done the rounds over the years ie ones that where being sold by certain people and framed back in the 90s ect where taken by local Lowton lad Mick Davey he had or had a big folder of the ones he took most of the iconic photos from that era Mick took he's still knocking about and lives in Leigh he was great mates with Wayne Hackett and Micks sister Cath still goes along to Lowton soul nites every now n again... I've seen all the photos he took there are some brilliant photos from that era

If I'm buying a record George over 40 yrs old I want it to look like like a 40 yr old record with a bit of history behind it not like a 45 that's just come from the pressing plant .... Lol Merry Xmas George how are the sheep in Carlisle lol
