  1. Totally agree with the above post. Each DJ brings something different to the table. We have been blessed with the efforts of all concerned and we all have been able to live richer lives. Thanks to everyone who has kept me on that floor 50 years and still going, keep dropping that stylus and I'll keep giving it 'some rice'. Paul
  2. Interesting observation....seems to be a default assumption that this person is male, we keep our ears open, let's do the same with our minds. Paul
  3. Very industrious musical genius, as said above, his name littered the labels. Early outta the gate....Damon Fox Packin' Up All time classic....Detroit Spinners I'll be around. RIP, back with the family. Paul

Blimey,is that Russ Winstanley at 3.15! Can't be, that fella appears to be smiling! Paul
  5. Came across this on the web. The DOC label has always been an anomaly, however this snippet gives a bit of background regarding the label. The Smiley Bros on DOC is described as an ensemble from the Wrecking Crew, another FW link. Sounds like a worthy cause. Paul Also see "The Smiley Brothers" courtesy of H.R.B., Inc. [Helen R. Blumberg] "a nonprofit Pennsylvania corporation organized to raise funds to provide free dental care for the handicapped,"
  6. Yup. Paul
  7. The BG/BE story is true. BG mentioned it on a Radio 2 interview celebrating the 50th Motown anniversary. He actually said BE gave him 3 hours to decide, there were hardly any execs about to make a decision. The ones available he asked all agreed to reject the BE offer so BG phoned back and accepted it! That's what happens when you're the boss. Paul
  8. Surprised black puddings never even got a look in.....fake news. You can tell how skillful that fella contributing is as you can't even tell he has a ferret running up and down the inside of his strides! Just remember everyone on the scene was universally welcomed irrespective of geographical location, but then again the scene wasn't the norm. Paul
  9. Thanks for a belting night. Top tunes. Paul n Lorna
  10. I remember years ago in PC World and a young tech geek was filling my head with all sorts of confusing terminology about an impending laptop purchase. As I was at tech lingo breaking point on comes Tony Clarke Landslide. That was his time to be confused as I jigged around his expansive impromtu dance floor. Cheers Tony, you saved me! Might have been a great deal on the laptop,I'll never know. Paul
  11. What a great event. Top diverse music and an exceptional venue. Highly recommended. Paul n Lorna

Sounds like a plan. See ya Sunday. Paul
  13. I seem to recall that short phase being christened 'lollopping'. Looked too enegetic to remain around for too long. Paul
  14. Great venue, people, and top notch, imaginative oldies. Cheers for looking after me and highlight of the night was Lois who 'couldn't dance' but managed to stun us all by seamlessly moving from a spin straight into the perfect splits......go girl.

  17. Went to SOS at Bradford Sunday afternoon.Seemed nicely busy with great quality music (always measured by how long since I've heard certain records out) Nice warm, welcoming crowd.Standout tune Teen Turbans NTBL, sounded ace. Paul
  18. Someone who took The Rosebuds on Tower off my hands several years ago for 50.00. Saved valuable space! Paul
  19. Good artist/group. I am led to believe that Ben kept the 'little' until his father passed as a mark of respect as his father was also an accomplished singer. Paul
  20. What a brilliant day. Ace music, venue and people. Will be back. Thanks everybody. Paul n Lorna
  21. One of the most obscure I ever saw was The Hot Biscuit Disc Co. Looked like a big expense for a small label. Paul
  22. JJ Barnes Please let me in. Paul
  23. You are joking. Will have a look. Thankz as they say. Paul
