  1. Here's the weather from the Chicago Tribune - Wednesday- Sunny- - high 41F Thursday- Sunny but clouding over in the afternoon- high 48F Friday- Partly sunny- high 54F Seems fine to me !!
  2. Chicago papers are saying sunny with a temperature of 47F (15 degrees above freezing). No snow is predicted. For a day in Chicago in March that really is a nice day for a white wedding !
  3. Thank you Sir ! Just checked again to make sure . Anyone want one for $800.00 ?
  4. Just checked the website, all 6000 copies have been sold of Volume Six. I think the price is still just a bit high though . You can buy an mp3 download of Volume Six for a measly $59.00. What a bargain !!
  5. It is Craig Moerer- he must have put on 4000 + 45s in the last 24 hours as buy it nows. The only problem is he is asking double price guide values for most of them. I think they'll be around for quite awhile.

There's also a variation on the red phono sleeve that's pictured with the Spinners 45- I've seen it once in a light blue color. Looks very strange when you're used to always seeing it in red. I believe the album cover sleeves came out in late 1966/ early 1967.
  7. Sorry about the no reply 2nd post. The 45 was booted. According to Tim Brown's book, the matrix # (uv-5134) is faintly scratched in on the boot and the red color of the label looks washed out compared to the original. Sorry I couldn't post a scan- hope this helps !
  8. Prices are already posted in the Look At Your Box section.

Welcome aboard Paul ! Thanks for joining the website. I'm sure a lot of the members what like to hear stories from you about your productions. I'd like to hear more about the Superlatives and Robby Lawson when time permits.

  11. I guess we can all nitpick what the first Soul comp was as opposed to an R & B comp - the earliest U.S. Motown was was Tamla Special#1 from 1961 with hits from the Miracles, Mary Wells , Barrett Strong and Singin' Sammy and Sheri.
  12. Sonny Munro, Betty Wright, The Mob ...

I think you're referring to "Hold On Pearl" by Bob Kayli (aka Bob Gordy). That one is not one of the best on the Gordy label.

I think anybody versus Charlene is a no brainer .
  15. Here's a few more for your consideration - 1) Donny Hathaway- "This Christmas" 2) The Intruders- "Everyday is A Holiday" (not pure Christmas, mentions about every Holiday you can think of.) 3) Supremes- "Children's Christmas Song" ( the cheesiest of them all ! )
  16. I don't know who posted the photo on you tube but I think they've got their groups mixed up. The photo looks like Kid Creole and the Cocoanuts ( another August Darnell group). Machine is made up of Jay Stovall, Lonnie Ferguson, Melvin Lee, Kevin Nance and Claire Janice Jackson Bathe (what a name!). Somehow I don't think those tall blondes are named Jay, Lonnie, Melvin or Kevin.
  17. The original U.S. 12" (which I think came out first) had the "no blacks, no jews, no gays" line. There was a later version with the "where only upper class people stay" line was inserted. The album version also contains the original lyric.
  18. The male backup singers are the Four Tops who are singing along with the Andantes. No Vandellas on the song at all !
  19. Here's a few more additions to the list : 1) Clock 2) Daisy 3) Dimension 4) Epic 5) Riverside 6) Serock 7) Spring
  20. I think you've got Mercury on the list for the wrong city. The label was started in Chicago in the 40s and I just checked an Ohio Players album from the 70s and it was still Chicago based. The parent company (Polygram) might have been based in the Big Apple, Mercury was in Chicago til at least the late 70s.
  21. That really is a nice selection. Hope everyone takes a look !
  22. A few more for the list... 1) Adanti 2) Apache 3) Concord 4) Dud Sound (what were they thinking?) 5) Nu-tone 6) Savern 7) Signett 8) Songee (?) 9) Transworld
  23. The Sandra Stephens was on Ja-Wes.
