  1. Here's a theory about the Vapac credits. When "Shy Guy" first came out, it was independently distributed. When it started selling One-Derful got involved with the distribution and got part of the publishing credits?
  2. Former member of the Antennas, Billy did well with "Mr.Shy" eventually going Top 10 on this Chicago radio station -
  3. From "Where The Action Is " -

Do you mean WLS (Chicago)? That survey is from WILS ( Lansing, MIchigan) .

Sunday also got airplay in St. Louis and a Pop station in Lansing, Michigan -
  6. I could see it getting airplay in Philadelphia (their hometown) but I agree it is strange to have an album cut getting airplay on a Pop station in Trenton, New Jersey. Another question is what in the world is the "Mo Beat" or "Soul-Mo-beat" in the liner notes ??-

It looks like the Alteen version came out in February/ March of 1969 and got some airplay on WNOV (whose logo looks suspiciously like WVON in Chicago)in Milwaukee. It looks like Chess got involved sometime in July of 1969 -
  8. "Not Me Baby" got airplay on a Pop station in Trenton, New Jersey in April, 1968 -
  9. I don't think it's a problem with Chicago for the most part. One of the biggest airports in the U.S. (O'Hare) probably doesn't have many international flights leaving and the mail is just sitting there.
  10. The black label Philips came before the blue label but, the 1st release was on the Mod label -
  11. Classic video from Expo '67 in Canada-
  12. Sad to hear about this! From Soul Train-
  13. This one has to be included -

Very sorry to hear about this- Barney did play an important role in getting Motown established -
  15. Are you sure Lionel Hampton wrote that song? I could see it being Riley Hampton who was working with Ollie McLaughlin in the mid 60's.
  16. Really sorry to hear this- met him a few years back and he was an incredibly nice guy. Great 2 sided 45 !!
  17. I would go with B. There's a few artists who tend to "fluff" their resume. I know of a female singer who remade a song from 1964 in 1966 and claims she wrote the song and owns the copyrights to the song on you tube. I'm not going to mention names to spare her from further embarrassment.
  18. Both Record World and Cashbox reviewed "Jan Jan" by the Fabulous Counts (Moira #103) in their December 21st, 1968 issues. It doesn't make much sense for Belita Woods (Moira #106) to have been released 2 years earlier.
  19. Can't find any reference of "Magic Corner" before 1969. The single did well on WJLB in Detroit -
  20. The album "Detroit Gold" lists Pete Varner only as the writer of "Magic Corner".
  21. Here's two more that can be removed from the list - The Olympics and Ralfi Pagan. The titles may be the same but the songs are completely different.
  22. Jack Montgomery did go a little higher on the WVON chart a few weeks later but did much better on another Chicago station (WBEE) going up to #17. Kellmac #1010 and #1012 must have been pressed in very small quantities.
