  1. As far as I can tell, it's just a late 60's repress of the 45 . Here's another one -
  2. I'm not 100% sure but... the most likely explanation is that they released the record the 1st time around and nothing happened. Maybe a dj started playing later and it became a hit so they re-serviced the record . It could also be they decided to put out a different mix or a longer version of the song. It was a way to differentiate this new version from the original release. Here's the original shorter version without the harmonica solo.
  3. Good flip side too !
  4. Marvin and Kim were on to something -
  5. Don't worry about it- I didn't know about the George Benson version. We're all here to learn something. First released version was Young Holt Unlimited's version of "Soulful Strut". Then came Barbara Acklin's version "Am I The Same Girl". The song was covered by Dusty Springfield and Swing Out Sister - I'm sure other versions exist.
  6. Instantly identifiable cover version -
  7. Please disregard the earlier post- I've seen promo copies of both the 2149 and 2172 mixes on both black and blue Arista label promos. Both are legit.
  8. John Manship also has a video on you tube and calls "Don't Turn Away" an unreleased track. The video showing the Atco label used this King Curtis 45 for their mock up version -
  9. The 45 was released with 2 different mixes- the black logo demo is the 2149 mix, the demo with blue logo is the 2172 mix
  10. I guess every scene has it's share of records that don't quite fit the mold. This is a Classic Chicago Steppers track -
  11. Producer Gabriel Mekler had already done "Groovin' ... " with Frederick the II in 1971. He probably recycled the track or it could even be the same song- the vocals are very similar.
  12. This is a different group most likely related to this Memphis group-
  13. The flip side is "Cloud Nine" which would be the same as the U.S. Soul label release.
  14. I spotted this on e-bay- it appears to be a foreign pressing using the Soul release # on a Motown label 45. The logo looks a little off and I've never seen a ".... Motown Record Corp. , Michigan " on a label.(bottom right edge). Does anyone know what country released this ???
  15. Anthony could never catch a break- his biggest U.S. hit was "Block Party" which was an instrumental version of his Salsoul 12" "I Can't Turn You Loose" .
  16. Roy Hamilton was a heavy weight Golden Gloves boxer before he started his singing career-
  17. Great early 70's Soul parody -
  18. A very Merry Christmas to the Soul Source team and all the members! ! Best wishes to all for 2019 from the U.S. !!
  19. I'd say Levi Stubbs, Marvin Gaye and David Ruffin would be in my Top Three with Bobby Womack, Teddy Pendergrass and Eddie Levert from the O'Jays not far behind.
  20. Not sure about the Dramatics song but I have heard "Float On" on Chicago Steppers mix shows. Here's another Classic Chicago Stepper -
  21. It's the group's cover of "Do I Have To Come Right Out And Say It"
