very difficult.Today I have had enough.
Everyone should make up their own minds about who the perpetrator (s) may be.
But I was going to head over to the Rocket as well as coming to Crossfire.
Now if anyone visits the Rocket, IN MY OPINION, you are supporting the kind of parasite this scene does not need.
You dont need to go to the Rocket to have a good time this
For those interested, Ive posted a statement on the 6Ts site on behalf of the Crossfire promoters.

All we can do is keep rising above those involved in sabotaging the scene and VOTE with our feet and our wallets. Albeit 3 hours shorter, Crossfire is still going to be a blinding night.

A person recently had problems on a northern list called advanced northern soul list.

Sad news that Don Varner past away this week, am sure right in saying that all thoughts from all soul fans go out to his family and friends RIP
Don Wilson Varner (25 June 1943 – 7 October 2002[1]) was an American soul singer. Varner was a baritone who sang both uptempo soul in the northern soul style as well as ballads.
Born in Birmingham, Alabama, Varner grew up in the same neighborhood as Eddie Kendricks.[2] Varner moved to Chicago after high school to pursue his music career but ret

As a soul fan, I am shocked at what I had sent to me this morning from a member of a soul/Belgian popcorn/ Hi-energy music message board called ANS. If it wasnt enough to stomach, that the majority of the DJ line up was dreary and the music was "old hat" real soul records are now being banned and considered "not good enough" for thier brand of Northern Soul. Gene toones, arguably, is probably the best record ever made. Read on, a true shocker :

Just picked up the latest issue of Mojo magazine and theres a feature on Wigan Casino (6 pages), top 50 soul records and long overdue praise for the man with the silly haircut Ady C. and Kent records. Enjoy!

Thanks to Irish Greg for passing on a thoughtful list I was speaking to a very well known record Collector/Dealer/DJ who kept telling me that the records are just not in the states no more. Reports of yet more negative comments on the Northern scene in a mainstream-ish magazine.
Fair enough you may think, but trouble is they are all written by so called northern fans, the rocket lot. in their attempts to promote their own event, they seem fit to do it by slagging down other events, djs, soul fans, styles of soul.
Be laughable if it wasnt so offensive.

Jazz FM - Caught a bit of this on road, guest was new Northern folk hero Ginger with as always a most entertaining guest appearance.Recounting details of his recent trip to Sweden (sounds like a well thriving scene there) and delivering some of his latest top sounds, such as Dance With You - Jimmy Andrews- cover up it was most enjoyable both rare soul and laugh wise. Good to hear that many of Sweden Soul fans were familar with his current plays and cover ups through downloading off the internet
Postcards From The Factory Issue #2 - February 2002
How the kids from Compton were spotted hanging out in Detroit.
At the height of the Rare Groove scene, during the 1980s , this track by The Jackson Sisters grew to cult status and saw Polydor Records gain some heavy sales when they obliged the record collecting fraternity with a re-issue on their Urban Records imprint.

Bit late as been busy, but just a quick word on last weekend
Well got to say the 6th Annivesary at Lowton was a well enjoyable nite, great line up of DJs, two dropped out Tim Brown and Chris King. Think late additions were Ian Cuncliffe and also Steve Thomas (HHead) doing the last hour.
Packed, quality sounds, great atmosphere. Highlight of nite to me was Keith Moneys spot, ouch so good it hurt. Rest of line up did the business, and to me seems a lot fresher feel to the sounds being sp
