But the venue was busy. People arrived early, hit the floor and with out exception stayed that way from pretty much the first record to the last. Music was as diverse any you are likely to hear, 60's thumpers, both lesser known and and classic, crossover gems to put a smile on anyone's face, frantic funk to make back bone slip and modern soul of many shades all in one room. That was the plan when we started last December 'A bunch of mates playing the best tunes they can, all together, one room'. Well sort of failed a little there, as there is so much good music to play and due to this being the second event when we had people travel from around Europe, that this time we open the 'Secret Room'. This was to give an arena for that modern, boogie & disco feel that those that have traveled abroad often hear in Bamberg, Hamburg, Barcelona, Oslo and in the U.S. and it worked !!. With time we hope that this might grow to have it's own unique following, plus a place for others to dip in and out of. Both rooms have sounds systems that many venues would die for and a sound engineer that works all night. In the main room he sits behind the desk constantly balancing the sound to the delight of those that attend. I have to give a big shout to Ged & Johnny Beggs who work tirelessly to help me deliver this event. To the club & hotel staff who really love this event and go out of their way to make us feel welcome there. The DJ's who for this one we're Malayka, Soul Sam, Arthur Fenn, Mick Heffernan, Tomás McGrath, Matt Sneath, Sean Haydon, David Abbott and the revalation of the night, Amanda Cottrell who's 70's set in the secret room brought the house down. All deserve to be named individually, as all had their part to play. BUT MOST OF ALL, THE CROWD, you make the event, you get the event. Next July 23rd, the club want us to come in, in the next few weeks and book next years dates. We are here and we are here to stay !!, I thank you all ............... Link to review
