We are happy to announce that the Empress Building will host another evening of entertainment. This will be a fantastic evening jam-packed with Soul and Motown classics.
The greatest in Northern Soul, Motown, R&B, and Modern Soul will be played at the Soul Nights on various occasions throughout the year by local guest DJs HINCHY & YOGi, who will cater to all musical interests.
ABOUT THE BALLROOM
The Empress Ballroom, which dates to the 1920s, has hosted a number of prestigious events and still has its original opulent furnishings and lofty ceilings. The vintage ballroom sprung dance floor system, which can shield dancers from minor muscle or joint injuries, is the key feature.
This cutting-edge dance flooring can even prolong a dancer's career while preventing accidents by providing a more supportive surface. The performance of a dancer may not be significantly affected by micro injuries in the short term, but continued usage of solid or unsprung flooring can lead to the development of more severe injuries. Sprung dance floors improve performance by reducing dancer tiredness by making a more forgiving surface and returning used energy rather than absorbing it. This allows you to dance further into the night, but only at the Empress Building.
 
PARTY BOOKINGS
Whenever a special occasion arises, such as a birthday, anniversary, Christmas, engagement, etc. If your group is big, reserve a table for at least ten people. Request table trimming from the staff, and they will do it for FREE with balloons and other trimmings to have it ready for you when you arrive.
You can choose from a variety of dining options at The Empress Building, including pizza, pie and peas, goan cuisine, and full-set buffet selections.

If you're travelling from Lincoln/Grantham/Spalding direction follow the signs for Skegness but stay in the left hand lane on the dual carriageway and as soon as you cross the bridge and the road bends round to the left take the first exit, Sibsey Lane, there will be a SOUL SPIRIT sign up, and follow that road adjacent to the dual carriageway until it opens into a square then a small road leads to the venue, again there will be a SOUL SPIRIT sign up, don't go back onto the dual carriageway. There is a car park but if it's full just park in Boots car park next door as long as you don't leave your vehicle there overnight.
 
If you're travelling from Spilsby/Skegness direction follow the signs for the station but stay in the right hand lane and go around the big roundabout and come back on yourself then follow the above directions.

MICK H – we are so excited to have the legend himself coming down from Nottingham to blow up the dance floor (and the microphone)! Mick was one of the key players behind the era-defining LIFELINE nights, runs the amazing Boat House club in Nottingham and the city’s (in)famous soul weekenders. But more than that, Mick has been buying records since the year dot and has broken more massive soul sounds than you’ve had hot dinners. A massive presence on the scene, expect a HUGE set from a big personality – and we should be extra thrilled because none of us can remember when Mick last played London. (Was it the 100 Club? Capitol Soul???) Not to be missed.
JOEL MASLIN – You know Joel, 100 Club resident and general cheeky South London urchin – back again at the Ritzy by popular demand. A regular on the decks all over the country, Joel has superb hard to find tunes – and then will surprise you by reactivating a classic. The dance floor’s always full and we are employing extra security to handle his legions of fans. Expect soul, funk, rhythm and soul/R&B and all points in between.
AMANDA SULLIVAN – the first woman (we are told) to play at the 100 Club allnighters back in the 80s (we’re told). The Brighton Belle will no doubt be leading her crew to the dancefloor with the very first record. Three words – loads of fun. Getting hot under the collar already!
And of course, your hosts, JAKE, DONNA, LISA and DOUGIE will be there too making the party swing...
