Looking forward to a Christmas Cracker, at this great venue, after the recent near sell out night for the Grumpy takeover. Expect some more Rare Soul gems, forgotten oldies and so much more. With a great line up to boot, what's not to like!!

Should be some quality music in the main room, from a top notch line up. Here's one that's gathering a lot of interest!!

Taste maker Simon Ingham, will be digging deep into the boxes, bring you the rare and seldom played in equal measure. A Detroit gem that's lived far too long in the shadows of it's more expensive to buy label release. The group had three releases on Valtone, file under rarely played dance floor dynamite!!

So the countdown begins to the first Saturday of the new month and the CULCHETH CHRISTMAS CRACKER!... and what a 'Cracker' it's set to be! the slogan might be a bit cheesy but the music definitely won’t be. We welcome special guests PAUL JOHNSON and IAN WILLS who will be joined by CULCHETH regulars KEV MURPHY, SIMON INGHAM and MICK HOWARD.

Anyone enjoying the rare soul nights around the North West of late will be familiar with the CULCHETH DJ’s all of whom are making their mark at some of the best events. Special guest IAN WILLS is one of the most popular DJ’s on the scene at the moment, guesting at many of the top venues both locally in his home town of Wigan and further afield. Ian has built up a great collection over the years and enjoys playing a selection of rare 60’s as well as dropping in a few surprise…PAUL JOHNSON has been part of the rare soul scene for many years and as well as being part of the Morecambe All-Nighter team he was the promoter of the popular WESTHOUGHTON CRICKET CLUB rare soul events with DJ’s such as Butch, Ted Massey, Rob Marriot amongst others appearing there. Paul brings a wealth of soul ‘knowledge’ and a great collection to select from.

Looking forward to the ‘Christmas Cracker’, see you there…

Baz, one of the many highlights at Westhoughton Cricket club was when Colin Law brought down a small coach full from Scotland. I don't know how everyone of them fit on the 2 hardboard sheets, that was the dancefloor.

Richard Searling's appearance was another top night there playing all of his then big sounds like Sandy Golden, Chuck Cockerham, Johnny Moore acetate etc.

How Paul persuaded them all to come and play in such a small venue with no proper dancefloor, I have no idea.😀

Talking of dancefloors, I'm sure the dancefloor of the Blackpool Mecca Highland room was carefully removed by highly skilled workmen and sold on Ebay.

I'll bet the Westhoughton CC dancefloor would have made a nice rabbit hutch.🤣

Simon put me onto this one from The US Everyday People.

I've just noticed Jobete so there must be a Motown connection?

Simon put me onto this one The US Everyday People and what a little beauty it is.

It probably resides in the back of his box gathering dust but I suppose that's what happens when there's so many good-uns to choose from. Get it dusted off Si😄

As if by magic lol
