Guest Catfish
Just read this thread & realised there has been a name change since last time, there will be some different DJs still playing oldies but perhaps some 'new' oldies, and there's still a modern room but with some 70's not just 80's -00's (that did get just a little samish, after a couple of hours, last time, but I just went upstairs to the R&B room for a while). Other than that it's the same place same bar probably much the same vibe... I'm not yet sure if I can go as I've just been reminded I was meant to be DJing for Warren this Sat., but there may be an issue with his venue, so waiting to hear.. if I'm not needed I'm happy with the great big St Ivo hall just down the road, don't feel the need to travel 150 miles to a great big hall (Stoke) to hear what probably amounts to the same thing! I know there's people around with a huge long 40 yrs+ history on the scene, etc. etc., and they have waited all year for St Ives and go nowhere else, etc., but for Gawds sake at the end of the day we're talking about a night out dancing, to a bit of soul and disco (yeah, modern soul, whatever, I love it and I call it all disco at times like this!) and have a gas with some mates. Once you've had a few drinks and danced about a bit, and spent some time reminiscing on your extensive northern soul pedigrees and histories, you won't give a stuff about the name, the policy, or whatever- it's a big venue with an uptempo dancer policy in the main room- does what it says on the tin- do the finer details of a missing 'R' really matter? Just go along and have a good time.. if you don't fancy it there are numerous other nights on far and wide- Bournemouth, Wellingborough, Stoke... and if someone makes money/ gives to charity/ out if this event, then good bloomin' luck to them!! I won't be asking for a balance sheet... !! If I want a rare night I go somewhere else.. when we start worrying about the semantics of what constitutes a 'new oldie' then we may as well start arguing about who shared a 'rare MP3'! Lastly I think Brian RAE has been around long enough that someone on this thread should be able to spell his name right I've only been around this thing a mere 20 years but know that. It's all dancing, it's all good. Michele Link to comment

And the Fleet as well!? Are you Mick BB? I'm sure I'll know you when I see you and know your real name- I just haven't got a hook to hang 'Red or Dead' on.. yet. Have now worked out who 'Cambridge Soul' is as he signs his name 'David'. That's about the level of 'incognito' I can deal with..! Yes it was sunglasses, they were lovely- I miss them. Too much wine at a barbeque and they were left in the bathroom. See you Sat Michele PS Aha!! Have just realised Red or Dead is a GIRL!! So it's not Mr BB! And I saw you at Caister?
