Corrie Goes Northern

At last Coronation Street mentions northern soul!, Craig Charles in his cab says to two young boys in the back "listen to this...pure Wigan", then its The Flirtations, Nothing But A Heartache and a another one which I could'nt make out, so all my emailing Granada studios about the lack of northern in one of the biggest cities has not been in vain!!! :thumbsup::P:Pwhistling.gif

He was playing the CD "The Northern Scene" on Decca. Some strange tracks on it, but the tracks I heard on Corrie was Flirtations. Billy Sinshine by Billy Davis and "Raise Your Hand" Britherhood Of Man. He also said that the Flirtations track was "Classic Wigan Pier"??

BTW Craig Charles does a Funk Show on BBC Radio 6. On it he has a Talcum Powder spot where he plays a couple of Norther Tracks. You can pick up the play list at

Couple of weeks ago- That Nutter of a chef Ramsays Nighmare kithchen was playing "Sliced Tomatoes" Now who thought that one up- I was waiting for "Green onions" and "Mashed potato" but alas Nothing.

Rodney Blackstock and Danny (?) had a conversation about Northern Soul in his antiques barn some years ago in Emmerdale. He held up a 70's Orange RCA UK disc (couldn't make it out) and announced thatbit was The Shalimars-Stop nad take a Look At yourself!!!

And Danny's(?) sister then went on to appear in Once Upon A Time In Wigan.

We're taking over the world.
