Are Simon & Ammie the youngest Nighter organizers?

One of the UK's Finest Northern Soul & RnB Allniters @ Citrus Rooms, Barnsley.

Let's go baby, where the action is...

**Relaunch party**

Saturday 16th January

**extra special night of mayhem**

We were just talking about this last night!

I've never managed to get to Barnsley but only heard great stuff about it, Aimee & Simon are lovely as well! Are they younger then Liam & Paul etc who run Beat Boutique or Aarron & co who run the do in Leeds? Sorry i've forgotten the name!

Sign of the times maybe? Us young folk are taking over...mwah ha ha ha!:D I don't know if i could do what those guys do. So much hard work & effort, for all promoters but maybe especially for younger ones who may not be taken too seriously when they first start out? It's very much appreciated-keep it up!:D

How old? I was 26 when i started. They might pip me now though.

Might have just pipped you Ady

Amie and I started the first one as a party for our joint 21st birthday. We're both 23 now and we're still going strong!

Must admit it's a lot of hassle for little money but we do have a crackin' night 4 times a year beer.gifsweatingbullets.gifhypo.gif

Kylee, there might be one space in the car on Saturday if you fancy it, although it depends if we can get a sitter for Alison's two (not looking likely at the moment angry.gif )? Not sure if Simsy wants to go, but it'll be a bit tight with 3 in the back. I'm staying at Tina and Fudge's in Rugby over night who I'm picking up on the way, I'll be heading back to Essex first thing Sunday morning...

Offer's there for you...

I'm on about a full on full tilt allnighter not a comfort zone soul night

Think most people on this site who've been to Beat Boutique & That Driving Beat would tell you both nights are anything but comfort zone soul nights.

We're out of teh running anyway, old gits Liam & Paul are 27, and im 26 so Simon and Amie are streaks ahead in the young gun stakes, and having attended their night many times, really know how to please the punters!!

Know that you'll have a great night. Being only 23 you'll be able to party all night whereas us 26 & 27 year olds have to take it easy sometimes! Definitely be up there a bit later in the year.

Thanks for the offer James, pm'd you.

I put on my first ever night at the Gala Ballroom in Norwich in 1981 at the tender age of 19. Tony Warot was the guest DJ and he keeps reminding me that I paid him upfront!! Still flying the flag with my Backstreet Soul Club nights (next one is Sat Feb 20th - see events) and in that time brought the likes of Brian Rae, Soul Sam, Sean Chapman, Carl Fortnum, Rob Smith and Banks 'n Bicknell to Norwich.

A guy at the 100 Club on Saturday kept repeating "You're from Norwich??" obviously convinced we're all Turkey pluckers in Norfolk!!

There is a young man from Dresden, Germany, Max Kunze his name, who celebrated yesterday his 21st birthday and promoted his first weekender quite successful three or four months ago, so it seems to be nothing to get excited about if people in the age of about 20 doing things like that. I do just hope and keep my fingers crossed for that those youngbloods will still do it if they are 40!

Wally Francis from Boro was only 14 when he started promoting himself ...i mean soul venues:wicked:

Nearly right mate, Wally Francis is an old friend from my Middlesbrough day's who started promoting soul night's at the age of 15 in 1978, bringing the likes of Soul Sam, Pat Brady etc to the old Recreation centre in Hemlington Middlesbrough, and he's still promoting soul night's now i believe, he is also involved in amatuer boxing in Middlesbrough along with another old friend Graham O'Malley.

1978 g.gif

It was a long time ago ....or should i say a distant memory ..but if im correct ,Wally was only 12 in 78 ...yes.gif

i know he looks older than his yrs but i don't think there were many 12 yr old's on the soul scene back then let alone budding dj/promotors

Oddly though there were quite a few from Boro that knocked about with the Darlo soulies ...at Aycliffe allnighters ,Haughton alldayers......Beechwood and on the same coach to the casino .......but Wally was'nt one of emno.gif

Maybe he was just born too latewhistling.gif
