Every time I hear the other side of If You Ever Walk Out Of My Life by Dena Barnes, How Am I (You Ought To Know) I think to myself, why wasn't this record bloody massive, it's absolutely fantastic, it's got everything you could want from a Detroit dancer and I'm sure if it hadn't been for it's equally magnificent A side it would have been a huge record. How come this has never made it, anyone ever played it out?

Been played out quite a bit Pete I'd have thought. I know I've heard it on numerous occasions and used to to play it every now when I used to 'DJ'. Think you pinpointed why it was never massive though, the other side.

What I can't figure out is why both sides were never played on US radio stations. We did hear some of Harry Balk's productions that were placed on Big Top, and Impact Records. Both sides of this record were better (IMO) than most of his productions that DID receive lots of airplay.

As much as I love both sides (IYEWOOML is a CLASSIC!), I would've loved to have heard someone else take a stab at the song...imagine Pat Lewis or Barbara Mercer doing it!?!

HI ALL It's a good point!! that applies to many great rare soul sounds that have quality B sides the ALEXANDER PATTON is a typical example of what I believe was PETE'S point, I no TED (#1 midlands DJ) played it, it's a hard one to choose if you have a full dance floor is it the A or B side?
