The instrumental used to get played in the 70's (didn't they all?). First heard the vocal in the early 90's at Leicester spun by Mick Smith, Simon was on too, playing he likes of Gary Sole (holding on), Vondells and the incredibly underplayed Ain't gonna cry no more by Dave Charles as I recall. Sharmo play this again please.

thats when i first heard it,on a tape from mick smith with all his current plays @ the time.syl johnson/do you know what love is,excuses/trickbag danny woods/you had me fooled,four arts/who do you think you are, inc c/up's etc.those were the days.new tunes after new tunes(to me anyway,lol).

Hi Bob you o.k mate? I've played Dave Charles for years and never got any reaction to it so it's now in the garage mate , the Vondels I'm sick of playing and Gary Sole still sounds great , Hope's and Dreams I play out now and again .If you go to Loughboro' next week I'll play something for you regards Simon.

You get no reaction to DC cos no one is in the know about it, apart from yours I have only read one review on the record tipping it to go massive if only there were more available, seems that they never turned up in quantity as sometimes happens, which is such a shame and yet another obscurity is missed. Hopefully be there to hear your tunes, look in garage for DC if you have time please.

It was gaining attention when Rudzi was running the excellent soul nights in and around Leicester in the 80's/90's. There were some excellent (re)discoveries at the time, and Rudzi along with a wealth of "A" list dj's were supplying the faithful with a fitting list of tunes that are probably not played enough nowadays.

Dave Charles has been played loads over the last 20 years or more by a host of DJs. Last time I heard it was at Wilton Ballrooms (either the last one or the one before) by Colin Denham. Never done it for me though I have to say.

Too right Joan. It was a massive record in the 80's, Keb, Rob Marriott just two. It was covered up as Dave Charles too I think. Again like you said it has featured regularly on DJ's playlists over the last 20 years or so.

but none of those were new sounds in the 90's?
