Posted March 26, 201213 yr I guess that this may have done before, but anyway here goes. I wondered what folks thoughts are on, what the best previously unreleased (i.e. at the time of there recording) Motown group Northern Soul type tracks, have been to emerge over the past 30 years or so? A personal favourite of mine that used to rock Prestwich is: Thanks Mick

April 29, 201312 yr Not northern, but Stevie Wonder"just enough to ease the pain"fabulous ballad as good as anything he did(on you tube)whilst there check Little Milton"give me this chance",obviously not Motown but any chance to promote these tracks..you know how it is!
April 29, 201312 yr Originals - Suspicion Jimmy Ruffin - He who picks his nose Plus loads more....................
April 29, 201312 yr Love Holland and Dozier on the avenue , and the jimmy ruffin vocal, good points made about the quality of the unreleased stuff and the fact that in general i agree the quality control got things right...however there must be a dozen or so that were right up there and prove the exception to this , i know the song has been mentioned several times but Suspicion could go head to head with any other motown record , would find it very hard to definitively pick something better ,boils down to personal choice and taste i suppose . frank wilson, do i love you by the way, never really did it for me .
April 29, 201312 yr i got the contours .".nobody finah than dinah"... r&b styled early belter .and 3 on jobete acetate as well that im keepin 2 myself ........betcha someones got um tho..........lovely tunes mentioned on this thread, atb ezzie Edited April 29, 201312 yr by ezzie brown

Edward Hamilton claimed that Cornelius Grant ( the songs co-writer ) had offer "You Got To Earn It" to him to record, but Edward refused the offer. Cornelius along with Pistol Allen had taken unoffical leave from Motown to play on Edward's "I'm Gonna Love You" Session Dave
April 29, 201312 yr Has anyone yet mentioned ' What More Can A Boy Ask For ? ' I agree with those who say that tunes like ' Suspicion ' / ' Reconsider ' etc could easily have been hits had the Motown machine chosen to promote them. Temptations ' Witchcraft ' is one I wish had made it to 45, so I could have one (can't afford the Temps Emporers of Soul cd set, so don't even have it to listen to in the house ;(
May 1, 201312 yr Author Been searchin the U - Tube for ages for this one. Overlooked by many on the Spellbound - Lost and Found series,I think its a stunning piece, think "Ordinary Joe" style rhythm: MARTHA & THE VANDELLAS talking about love :
May 1, 201312 yr Paul Williams Once you had a heart Never heard this before, knocked me for 6, like Ruffin, so soulful, both their lives ended tragically early, when you hear them sing their inner torment is there for all to hear, such is the music we love, it seems, the more tormented, the better the singer Kev
May 1, 201312 yr PAUL WILLIAMS SO SOULFULL Seen this clip a million times and it still kicks the shit out of me, solitary viewing and listening only if you don't want to embarrass yourself Kev
