Was going to places like, Peterborough, Loughborough, Leicester, Keele,Trentham Gardens, Buzzard, 100 Club etc. Remember Girl across the street being massive (that's Moses Smith btw, not Jeanette @ # 36 lol). Magnificent Men, Lovin's gone to my head. Hand clapping. Buying records from Rob Smith that had '1.50 worn' on them. Buying the Northern Soul Story Vol 1 - Soul Supply at a nighter before it had been released. A fantastic and exciting time of discovery and wonderment for me and although I know more now and more sounds have been unearthed. I look back to 85' through rose tinted specs and fond memories ... When you get to my age you say every day is the best one You dont count in years. Dont think i could say what was the best year. My first nighter at Wigan in 75, My last nighter i went to at leicester. Thats 31 years but couldnt pick one that stands out,To many good times, good records.nice people Next year may be the best. Guest martyn Posted February 23, 2006 Share Posted February 23, 2006 Agree with Eddie Hubbard,76 & 81 would take some beating. 76 Wigan,St Ives,Cleethorpes at their peak.As Eddie says the records were comming thick & fast,also Gloria Jones on tour,a mixture of 60s rarities,70s new releases & obscure early 70s getting spins together in the same rooms (untill the big Mecca/Wigan dummy spitting competition!) 81 Mr Searling comes close to walking on water!The last months at The Casino were rather special-carried on after at Clifton Hall. Have to agree with the last years of the Casino being some of the best for music, Searling was pulling & blending new release & undiscovered stuff out of the hat like a magician. Fab years........... Guest Posted February 24, 2006 Share Posted February 24, 2006 back end 1972 Bletzoe and The Torch who could wish for a better intoduction however if one year gave me the NS buzz it was 1975...walked out of the casino after hearing Hawii 50 after 2 years of awesome music and in conjunction with Dave Mindam starting the Peterborough all nighters at the Wirrina and spinning a few ta boot.
