Thought it would be a good idea to post scans, pics, or just name the records that dropped through the letterbox or you have bought somewhere.

I thought it would be good idea to see what we are all buying - it doesn't matter f it is £1 or £cost a fortune, just post it here so we can all see what we managed to get and may a few words on why we bought it?

Moderaters can advise if it is a good thread or not.

I will get the ball rolling with two that came today (Scans below)

1. Young Holt Limited "California Montage" Brunswick USA DEMO - well chuffed, have a stocker, but wanted the demo!

2. Gloria Jones "Tainted Love" USA Champion - label is knackered, vinyl plays great and is in VG++ condition. I bought as I cannot afford a Minty one so got this one for £20 so I can play on original vinyl in my soul do at my house!

Among the pickups I made earlier today...three albums: Gladys Knight and the Pips Standing Ovation (featuring No One Could Love You More), Jerry Butler Soul Artistry and Spyder Turner Stand By Me (never saw the album before today).

Singles-wise, the big find was The Girl's Got 'It' by Billy Preston,  just in time for my DJ gig this Sunday. I also found a Goldies 45 reissue of I Still Love You by the Casinos, a nice original copy of Don't You Care by the Buckinghams and an odd promo copy of Stormy by the Classics IV (odd in the sense that the flip is not 24 Hours of Loneliness,  but a tune called Ladies Man, which is a pleasant enough dancer, but not in the same class as 24 Hours.

Best,

Mark

Mark, my older brother used to be a ship's engineer (this was back in the 60's). He sailed on 2 routes from Manchester on cargo ships to Argentina & through the Great Lakes to cities like Chicago. I'd always ask him to drop in local record shops when berthed in a US city & buy me a handful of soul 45's out of the cheapies box. He never did, mainly I think coz he didn't know which were soul 45's (he had no interest in or knowledge of soul material). Anyway, after I'd bugged him a few times for coming back empty handed, he did go into a US record shop & picked up 3 LP's with black guys on the front cover. They were relatively new releases (it must have been 1966 or 67) at the time & one of them was Spyder's album. So I had this US import LP way before many (any?) import soul 45's.

Erma Franklin "Gotta Find Me a Lover" (Brunswick) spare copy

Groovers "He'll Break Your Heart" (A&M WLP)

Delores Hall "Good Lovin' Man" (Keymen)

Intruders "Together" (Gamble) with the red label 'cards' design. I already have it on the black label with the multi-colored band.

Jimmy Jones "39-21-40 Shape" (Bell promo) I already have a stock copy on this.

Results "Untie Me" (APT WLP)

Roy C. "Shotgun Wedding" (Blackhawk)

Soul Partners "Walk On Judge" (Bell promo)

Benny Spellman "Sinner Girl" (Sansu)

Ike & Tina Turner "I Idolize You" (Sue)
