Personally I think Gil Elvgren is/was an artist with great vision....the tune was ok too.

Nice version of a Cornel Campbell song.

Here's the original version.

A few years ago I went to see Mick Smith at Wolverhampton record fair and of course he always gets to see everything before the public are let in, so I said did you find me any reggae and he showed me this one solitary blue Coxsone single, except the title and artist had been removed off the label, so I said any idea what it is? Knowing he knows absolutely nothing about reggae of course...anyway he says I can't sell it like that can I, play it and if you like it give us a fiver for it. It was of course a UK original of Queen Of The Minstrels, I managed to keep it for about 3 years I think. I've never seen another in the flesh and a tatty no centre wol copy is the only one I can find on Popsike - £300! Though that is surely the result of fake bidders bumping the price up.

The B side, Stars, that's superb as well.

this is very poor i couldnt listen to it for more than a minute. Why do they bother covering tunes !

Never heard this song before, but really like it, I'm not a big reggae fan to be honest, but both versions are good in different ways. Thanks for posting this..

I have this album on trojan, could never of remembered who its by, nice version liuke you say.....

Very heavily influenced by Curtis Mayfield of course.

He did a nice second cut for Bunny Lee circa 1973 titled "The Minstrel".
