grant
It was an excellent night, great music from all the DJs, Maria and Carl played some great sounds, sorry I had to leave before the end of your set, thanks for playing I Only Have Eyes For You, took me back to the CSC at the Dome. What made the evening even better, was that so many of my good friends were there, friends who have helped me so much, thank you all. As I commented last night, we are so lucky to have the soul scene, great music and great people. Adults enjoying themselves. I know I would be a poorer person without it. Hope I didn't talk too much rubbish last night, had more alcohol than usual, also made me go out on the dance floor when I intended to stay on the sidelines. Oh well, when the music gets in you what can you do? wouldnt mins an mp3 odf this if somebody has one Link to comment

Guest Stuart T
Thanks to everyone for coming on Friday night, and especially Carl and Maria, you made it an absolutely blinding night for us. And in particular thanks for that outstanding CD, we almost wore it out on the Saturday. Love that I Only Have Eyes For You track, quirky but brilliant! I'll try to do a playlist for tomorrow, knew that there was something that I was supposed to write down last night. Link to comment

Martint
thanks to everybody for their kind words, and for coming down last Friday. There are highs and there are lows to promoting a night, and this was definitely a major HIGH! Carl and Maria were absolutely fantastic, and what I was pleased about the most was the response to their set - containing many unknowns and 'barely knowns' alongside some mega classics, but all of which had the floor packed throughout. Little Carl sounded blinding, but to be honest the whole set sounded blinding.... the Bingo Jo was sensational, and the Little Carl also wonderful over a loud system having heard it only on the CD... From memory, I think I played the following - I'm sure I've left a few off but I'll have to check the box later.... Early doors 15 mins set : Kathy and the Calendars- Please don't go (Port) Diane Newby - What you're putting me through (Kapp) Misty Moore - The little things (Pzazz) Kenny Carlton - Lost and found (Blue Rock) Flirtations- Stronger than her love (Festival) 10.30pm - 11.15pm John Andrews - It's just love (UK Parlophone) Hayes Cotton - Love plays funny games (Claire) Explosive Dynamiks- Whole lotta love (Lemco) Mel Britt- She'll come running back (Fip) Clarence Hill - a lot of loving going around (Mainstream) Duke and Leonard- Just do the best you can (Stomp Town) New Yorkers - Don't wanna be your fool (Tac Ful) Soulville Allstars - I'm gonna get to you (Soulville) Ronnie McNeir- Sitting in my class (De-To) Cindy Scott - I've got news (Unreleased Mirasound acetate) Curtis Liggins Indications- What it is (Kayceesoul) William Cummings - Make my love a hurting thing (Bang Bang) Karmello Brooks- Tell me baby (Milestone) Shirelles- Too much of a good thing (Scepter) Bob and Fred - I'll be on my way (Big Mack) Hope to see you back down for the next one on Friday October 20th. Gene-R
Thanks to all for coming on Friday night. Carl and Maria - you did us very proud indeed! A special thanks to you both for giving us an excellent set. And yes- I do love that version of I Only Have Eyes For You! I was completely taken by shock to see my old schoolmate Alan Wan, who turned up having spotted our website. He was on holiday in the UK, and now lives in Hong Kong! A great opportunity to rekindle old friendships. Sorry my playlist is delayed - I twisted my back Saturday morning re-filing my record boxes, and spent the rest of the weekend in pain! But I promise to post it up this evening (Monday), when I get home. Gene Link to comment
