Jumpinjoan
Jock, you'd be amazed - and probably a little nervous - at what i remember! A certain night at Shots springs to mind when you were Djing but not really "up to the job" shall we say. A little worse for wear due to a tiny piece of blotting paper. Still got the pictures somewhere - i'll try and dig them out. Be good for a little blackmail now you're a pillar of goodness.......?????? HAPPY DAYS INDEED!! See ya tomorrow mate. Chalky
Better late than never (my fault of course ) Here's a review written by Colin Wood's better half Shirley of the days events....excellent review too if I don't say so myself SCOTLAND VS ENGLAND 11TH DECEMBER 2004 ALLDAYER 2.00PM -2.00AM Hammy had laid down the gauntlet and despite Scotland bringing out its heavy artillery in the shape of Kenny Burrell, Keith Money & the like, the English DJs had heroically accepted the challenge of a soulful tournament to be held in the fair city of Edinburgh. Kitch, Dean Anderson, Chalky and other courageous English jocks assembled at the Drivers club prepared to play their finest toons and uphold England's honour. However the Scots were playing on home ground, had the English taken on more then they could handle or would they prove to be worthy adversaries for the Scottish titans? Well of course they would;-)))) how could this event fail to be anything other than the most soulful of days? The English & the Scottish DJs played their finest diamonds and dazzling gems, toons that were hideously rare & outrageously expensive were played deck to deck with wonderful underplayed records that were cheap only in monetary terms. Sometimes our expectations of an event don't always live up to what actually transpires, well this was not the case as far as this all-dayer was concerned. The DJs seemed to be on a roll and as the afternoon gave way to the evening and more soulies began to arrive so too the soulful anticipation gave way to a terrific atmosphere the sense of euphoria becoming almost tangible by the early hours of the morning. Every minute of the day and night was stuffed full of soulful sounds to suit all tastes - crossover, R'n'B, modern, doo-wop, blue-eyed, latin, funk, classic oldies, current biggies, unfamiliar & memory jerkers - all the toons played had one thing in common, it was soul music with a capital S. The music never let up throughout, the DJ's seemed to be having a great time playing the records and the appreciative crowd enjoying the bombardment of soulful sounds. By the end of the night I felt like the proverbial cat that had got the cream - totally satisfied. Thanks to everyone who made this a great event, the promoters, the DJs, the travelling soulies, the local soulies, everyone - I had just the greatest time. So who won the Scotland vs. England tournament, well the DJs were: Scotland: Colin Law Frasier Dunn Gordon "Hammy" Hamilton Keith Money Kenny Burrell England Chalky Colin Wood Dean Anderson Eddie Engel Kitch And here are some of the play lists so I'll let you decide:-))) Keith Money -Scotland Soul Incorporated -
