Ive  finally got a mate who has collected Echoes and various magazines for years ,  to scan  some Modern scene stuff

I think this was late  1987   ?    The Royal Oak   Mondays ( a gig  for the train spotters , a vinyl  selling gig  )

Hopefully he will scan some  1980 stuff too

think I also know a guy who paid 100 for JJ, lol

somehow, feel like listening to Money Before Love

Pretty much same spins at many modern nights now 25 years later right?

Thats what i thought but many(not on this list) are being touted as new discoveries.

It was essential gig back then  Bins    as we played what we bought  and we had a huge choice back then . You only need the internet now

Some great new releases played down there to such as Tommy Tate, Clarence Carter and James Govan.

Waylo was an  in lable .  Remember  the Memphis Concert and Marti Pello   getting booed

i used to love those Jools gigs, absolutely wonderful times. Hearing so many tunes i had never heard before plus all the great Scottish guys Jim,Peter, Speedy etc that were living in London at the time.

Awesome times really  ,  diverse  mix of tunes too

Les Fisher's early spots were fantastic, he always dug out some surprises.  It's a shame those late 80's London nights, seem not to get the recognition they really derserved as some great music was played.  I also picked up some really nice bits there.  I also have a fond memories of Ivor head bobbing up and down, when playing Jessie Henderson.

Very true John as they were great times as well as Parkers and the fleetwood/ Southport Weekenders. Another night that never gets a mention is the Side Door soul club with Gary Thomas, Tony Rounce, Mole, Ivor Jones plus guests.

They were A great bunch of  lads Mark , great to see Jim at your 50th.

I'm sure I have some echoes left from 79/80.

I have a cutting of a sales add i put in Echoes somewhere, cant find it at moment but can remember i had JJ Johnson @ £100,King Moses @ £150 and SPG @ £50 funny thing is i only sold JJ Johnson from the add.

Was probably about 87/88.

Jim was also the king of the bad joke  :(

This was round the flat just off Tufnell Park Rd

Here you go Chris, one of your charts from about 25 years or so ago.

Forgot about Alfreda King! bet that sounds terrible now.

I can't remember Chris but I have a few more from the same night. I think it was either Norwich or somewhere like Cambridgeshire?

I'm fairly sure its out towards your way, does the rather fetching artexed walls not ring any bells?
