My friend, who is not on here is wanting to buy a few 100mph 60's Northern Soul records, BUT NOT TOP 500. Can anyone give me some recommendations, so I can pas them to him?

Thanks for looking

Andy

  • Eugene Church "Dollar Bill" on World Pacific.  Last time I played it out I slowed it down to -4 or -6 and it was still 110mph.

  •     Pretty fast one , would fooking kill me if I tried to walk to it let alone Dance to it

More than ever now-The Angels/Laniers -True Glow Town(i think)

River City, Steve, it also came out on a end of year college label too!

Maybe not, but bloody awkward to dance to

I agree with that.

Hate to say this, it's 1970 as well...

Get Set, Be Ready by The Auditions is fast enough that, to my ear at least, the guitarist can't quite keep up with the pace in parts of the song.  Used to be cheap & I think this still qualifies on price.

Wess & The Airedales - I'll Never Turn My Back On You Durium

Jr. Walker-Tune Up Soul

The Soul City-Cold Hearted Blues Goodtime

The Bobbettes-Having Fun RCA

The Delfonics-Down Is Up,Up Is Down Philly Groove

The Capitols-I Got To Handle It Karen

The Performers-I Can't Stop You Mirwood

Like the instrumental of it 'Theme from the other side' - though I believe there are two insts with this title on Hoagy Lands - being surprise surprise instrumentals of two different vocal sides.

Not saying your wrong, but how do you know it's 1970. There's no date on the label and John Manship has it listed as 1967 :)

Thanks to everyone who contributed with all the suggestions. I have now passed well over a hundred tracks to him to peruse at his leisure and perhaps line some dealers pockets.

Fast and 60's ? There are only two....The first sounds Ok, but is cheesy, The second...I could barely handle when I was 17 !

Bobby Freeman - C'mon and Swim - Autumn

Kim Weston - I got what you need - MGM

If it's not too much bother I'd be interested in the ones that he might fancy tracking down, just to see which ones hit the mark for him........if any?

Cheers

OK Martyn. When I get some sort of idea about what floats his boat (if any) I'll let you know.
