Staying with my posts on underplayed sounds  I got this the same day as the gloria hill .Howard tate you're looking good  utopia.  Played this covered  up as Jimmy bishop .as its wrote by him & jerry raglan great uptempo dancer that should see more spins

Ace included this track on their fine 'Jerry Ragavoy Story' comp CD  and it was also put on a Various Artists Goldmine bootleg album about 20 years ago. 

Got this in a soul pack years ago and it was the first record I had heard by Howard

 

Later I got Baby I love you, and then a few more started to appear like Half a man.

Very powerful singer indeed.

Just about everything by Howard Tate on US verve and turntable was in quantity on Bradford market in 70/71.

Great read.  So sad yet with a special ending. Love the bit about asking the church whether he should be singing secular or gospel and he took the risk again. Thanks for posting.

Great record, but a little awkward to dance to.

Love the instromental bridge, a complete lift from "Theme from a Summer Place" by Percy Faith!

Howard & Jerry Ragavoy came over to the UK to help promote his return to recording in 2003. Howard did a live show in London at the time (can't recall the venue but it was in central London). He put on a really good performance & I got to chat to both Howard & Jerry Ragavoy after the show. A truly spiritual gentleman. The pair then went over to Paris for another show, here's one of the songs he performed ...
