Gobsmacked ain't the word, in reality is it?, but in this day and age, reality isn't the norm.

Always a rare record yes?, and when they come up for sale/auction theyre the same few copies on the same merry-go-round so, the price will only go one way.

But it was £1100-£1300 for a minter literally a couple of weeks ago? Bit of a crazy jump suddenly…

Not specifically anyone  here, but, as also with the debate after JM,s results aswell, I still think there's a "Niter record room" mentallity still in existence, when the reality now is that, the people who are shelling out these sums of money are worldwide, and have probably never been to a Niter or Weekender in their lives, they just buy and collect Rare Soul Music

Kev, that's a relative theory, the whole marketplace went global with the advent of the internet, as has been said many times before....and many people from all walks of life who've found an interest in the musjc, without necessarily being interested in the scene.....lots of folk in this country are still just collectors and potentially never dhow their faces at sny function, regardless of having friends who are devotees.

Yes, each to thier own, I do wonder at times some of those might be better off collecting stamps or baseball cards, can't see they have any emotional tie's with the music like so many I know, including me 

I must admit I have for many years pondered the idea of 2 scenes,actual soul devotees whom attend events, and the stay at home soul collectors,personally I drift somewhere in between,but I’ve known people over the years with the best and rarest collections and they don’t have anything to do with the social scene! Equally there’s people who have attended regularly for years and never had the desire to own a single record!

Then somewhere in the middle there's people like me who went to most of the great allnighters and lived the life style to suit😳, but now through personal reasons, have to be content with mostly staying home and concentrate on collecting Northern Soul records.

I know where the greatest collection of Detroit records resides, that person I don't think has ever been to an allnighter to my knowledge

My point exactly Richard, just because you haven't been to a European niter or Weekender, doesn't mean you can't have an interest in Rare Soul music and decide to throw your hat in the ring to obtain the gems
