Olivernyikos Posted April 24 Posted April 24 (edited) Came across these in a record store the other day and thought they were really cool. As a young soulie I have never seen these before so loved this physical zine someone had made who is as obsessed as me about record and the music. If anyone could shed some more light or some more info on either of these would be great! I came across 5 so can send pics of the others if someone is interested, or other pages!, more than happy. Thanks again, Oli. Edited April 24 by Olivernyikos Miss spelling 2
The Tempest Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Record Collector - DJ - and dealer Pete Smith was responsible for Beatin Rhythm - in the 90s - am not sure how many copies there were of that - The Owls Effort was record dealer Richard Domars from the 80’s - think it only ran for about 7 copies - a time capsule !!!! 1

Popular Post Shinehead Posted April 24 Popular Post Posted April 24 The Internet is great but hearing the letter box bang and seeing the latest issue of your mag subscription on the floor is a great feeling, it felt like Christmas day when I saw it was the much missed Voices on the floor. 6

Owl's Effort is really great to read through, In this specific one he is talking about his trip to America and digging for records in New York, Even though the record market is the way it is now, I like to look at the price difference from then to Current, Most Notably he states you can get a copy of "Delegates of Soul-I'll come running back" easily for a tenner! 2
Divot Posted Friday at 18:30 Posted Friday at 18:30 You should check out Iain McCartney's excellent 'Soul In Print' book with info on most fanzines from the 60's onwards, available from Amazon. 2

Roburt Posted yesterday at 06:02 Posted yesterday at 06:02 AND a couple of soul fanzines were very professionally printed, so they looked similar to mainstream publications such as BLUES & SOUL , BLACK MUSIC, etc. I'm thinking of long dormant items such as IN THE BASEMENT and MANIFESTO. Down the years I've written for many, starting back in the 80's with BLACKBEAT. I still turn my hand for SOUL UP NORTH and post the odd article up on here too. 1
