I do appreciate people taking the time to review venues, but it would be good to have more playlists of the records played on the night, rather than "It was a great night and Jim, Bob and big Dave were there"!

I would like to think there are lots of potential punters out there who are really keen to have a look at somewhere different, travel a bit further etc, however as mentioned above if you have have no clue how adventurous or thought provoking the music policy is, then there are an awful lot folks who will just stay at home assuming it is just a variation of the top 500 northern.

Am sure even a brief summary be interesting to many

Maybe not so much a lengthy list of 45s with label and such details in the correct order played etc etc which does take a bit of time and effort

but you know just a couple of lines such as

what worked well, what cleared floor, how new acquisitions went and so on

doesn't strictly have to be by the actual player, sure even a view from the floor would be appreciated ?

John, Ukranian club Ashton will almost always put up a Video clip (running a record or two) of the dancefloor action on the night. So people can guage the atmosphere and a tune or two. And often they will also do a follow up record listing. Plus if you check the SS events prior to a Ukranian night they always post up records being brought to the night by D.J.s.

Hi John,we normally add a few highlights tracks from Ashton rather than a full playlist

Maybe a dedicated page on site would be better, apologies if I have missed that ?

We usually always add on Facebook from the night on The playlist page

Happy to accommodate going forward

Agreed I post on here normally twice a day, potential spins from our guests,to give a flavour of the night

could try asking the people involved via the event guide comments?

either before or after the event could work and sure that most promoters/djs would be happy to pass on..?

plus think just seen your plays on the night posted as a review with others yep?

We did one from a recent event in Stockport, with playlist attached, happy to add going forward,as mentioned

Always add in the lead up to Ashton, mainly to showcase our guests.

Food for thought, maybe a dedicated playlist section ?

we do have this forum as the 'place' Mick

Soul related Event Dj club Playlists and Event Review Highlights

the reviews are autofed in here - a summary is posted with a link

but we have had some members posting playlists here for a while now

maybe not obvious as there does seem to be a disconnect with our event guide and the forum nowadays

Not a lover of individual playlists as I feel they never give a true picture. You could play something that on paper people might turn their noses up at reading it, but on the night it may well have taken the roof off. Nights are much more than separate DJs, they should all flow as a whole, with each complementing each other. We have posted Grumpy plays in the past, not as a list of individual sets attributed to each DJ, but as an overview of the entire night, because that's what it's all about for us. Even then, not a fan 😂

used to see some posting on here a 'if you want to know you have to go' sort of attitude regarding playlists

is this viewpoint point still about?

the attitude did exist because Djs sets were being plagiarised by others who never even went to events or listened to the Dj who did the work in finding lesser known records to play. They just spent their time going through playlists and building their sets that way.

I'm out of the loop as such now and take little notice, the rare occasion I do Dj these days I sometimes post my set list if only to give the event a bit more exposure.....one time of the day I rarely posted my set list, more through laziness rather than anything else.

I'm not a fan of posting potential spins before the event. Spoils the suprise for me if there is such a thing left these days.

After reading some of the posts, I can understand why some would not want to do a play list, as it can fuel the elitist game of one-upmanship, look at all my expensive records!🙄

But for me personally, I can't go to any venues at this time, so it's one of the few ways I can find out and keep up, with what's being played at venues🙂

I like to see and hear what might be played at Ashton as it was my favourite venue when we were out and about ,just wish I could afford some of em' shades

A bit off topic but related I used to enjoy reading the Living Room Dj thread and from there discovering tunes I didn't know, many that were affordable. I'd hazard a guess from memory it was more collector based rather than what was currently being played but interesting nontheless.
