Guest kent soul club
Thanks Again to the residents, and guest DJs, for a great variety of top music all night. And even more thanks to everyone who turned up , and helped make it a great night. People through the door and people on the floor is what really counts! Started look back so the DJs can put up play lists. I can't remember what I played (I've slept since then!).Have to look through my box tommorrow to refresh the old memory. Thanks again (again) Magoo NEXT KENT SOUL CLUB; 16th JUNE Link to comment

Kevinkent
Hi Martin. We had another cracking night at Rochester, and needless to say all the DJ's were on top form - no doubt inspired by Dave Rimmer! :good: Nice to see a few new faces, especially Terry from Lightwater/Bisley, and of course some favourites of mine from Chelmsford etc. Those that haven't found us yet - Rochester is in KENT, Ramsgate is in KENT. Hold Tight
Well, another soulful night in Rochester. Big thanks to Martin and Toni for asking me along. It was a great pleasure to meet Dave Rimmer, oh and of course bearsy and bunny ( thought I better add that in as I know bearsy needs cheering up what with his war wounds an all) Anyway here's the play list. Early doors set was to give up some air time to some lesser known bits and pieces of an RnB flavour and a couple of more northern tracks to close. Operator - Lee Andrews - Parkway demo Tear for tear - Gene Chandler - Vee Jay demo So glad she's mine - Carter Brothers - Jewel demo Keep on keeping on - Ruby Johnson - Volt demo I better run - Barrett Strong - Tollie demo Dollar Bill - Eugene Church - World Pacific demo Can't raise me - Jimmy McCracklin - Imperial Do you still love me - Cookie Jackson - Progress Thread your needle - Dean and Jean - Rust demo Baby I'm coming home - Mack Rice - Lu Pine demo Almost - Jimmy Delphs - Karen Hope we have - The Artistics - Brunswick When I'm gone - Brenda Holloway - Tamla Unsatisfied - Lou Johnson - Big Top Back to the bar for a chat with Dave and the other sellers at the record bar who had turned up whilst I was on the decks. Good to see Pete and Jok again and have a rifle through all the boxes of vinyl. Fast approaching midnight and it was back to the decks again for me, in between the residents Bunny and Mr Magoo had lit up the dance floor with some well known classics so a the pace was set. Wherever you were - Bud Harper - Peacock demo Rags to riches to rags - Donald Height - Avco That's my girl - Dee Clark - Constellation demo Ain't it funny - Gerri Granger - Big Top demo Baby Boy - Juanita Williams - Golden World You've got a good thing going - Jeanie King - General American Right now - Ray Scott & the Scottsmen - Decca If I could only be sure - Nolan Porter - ABC The wrong girl - The Showmen - Minit demo You shook me up - Roy Hamilton - RCA demo I don't want a playboy - Barbara Lynn - Tribe demo Birth of a playboy - The chosen few - Maple demo Just a thing called love - John Parker - Brunswick demo I just kept on dancing - Doug Banks - Argo I cried my life away - Tommy Navarro - De Jac Emperor of my baby's heart - Kurt Harris - Diamond Different set altogether with loads of well known and classic northern tunes for the dancers. Labels are added for those who are minded to want to know them and if you don't just ignore them. Great night. Cheers Mark.SSI www.soul-smugglers-inc.co.uk Link to comment
