shocking to say the least its obviously a bit weak cos of the cracks etc so the chances of it staying as good/bad as it is whilst being sent through the postal service is a big risk isnt it.

The buyer can use duct tape or super glue to hold it together, mabey heat the edges up just enough to weld it together again.

then again while folk are bidding on cracked records there are bargains to be found if one looks.

with 2 hrs to go a very, VERY hard record stands at $123, it was only 6 months ago that I paid lets say "a few more quid" for a mint, be very interesting to see what it ends up at as I have a theory about vinyl prices dropping dramatically over the coming months.

According to popsike one went for 1700 about 18 months ago - description "its cracked from edge to trail out. I played both sides, and it did not skip. A bit noisy, but very rare".

You can just imagine the buyer steps up to do a spot and has this record pulled up in its white sleeve at an angle jutting out of the recrd box, just so those around can see they have the record. Of course it cant be played but what the hell, image is everything. Then they get a request to play LIG and the DJ turns round, whips out a pressing and says 'I hope you all understand but I cant risk playing my £2k original on shit decks like this'

All the folks around are fooled, The DJ gets the adulation and respect, and in reality it only cost £700 instead of £2K.

Repeat this trick at several soul nights and suddenly the argument turns to making it a great buy..................

Its all a matter of marketing guys, life is all about shades of grey
