I just had a look at the latest additions to Manship's auction page and there's an art/picture sleeved copy of Mixed Emotions "Gold Of My Life" on EMI Germany... So it seems like there actually was some truth in Elijah Cole's ramblings regarding connections between EMI Europe and this tune. I personally had no idea about this german release up until a couple of minutes ago.

Very intriguing that a record this obscure managed to get a major label release in Europe.

Highly unlikely in my opinion.

Cole has probably just forgotten that he was paid for it, or wasn't satisfied with the deal he got.

a friend of mine found this copy...the record was never released & withdrawn (reference for this is the emi catalouge)...let's see how many more copies could be found...

Surely the question is, not how many were pressed, but how many left the EMI building. Many major EMI presses in all countires are incredibly rare, just look @ some UK Statesides..

Any un-ordered leftovers, would hit the crusher to make another record. I think we can all say we've not had a copy before..and after 33 years the initial run is irrelevent but you would think @ least 200.. otherwise it would be pointless even making the master or the sleeve. How many German Record shops ordered could be zero.

We've been playing a Norwegian issue for years

Who brought this obscure record to Germany in the first place? And then convinced EMI that this was perfect for the "super disco sound" series along with all the other super disco sounds of 1975?

Possibly one of the group had a relative in the US forces who was posted to NATO Germany at the time and passed the word out about it?

It wouldn't surprise me if this Benelux release was the result of a deal struck between Elijah Cole and EMI at the yearly MIDEM festival. That is, if Cole ever attended any of the MIDEM festivals ofcourse...

That's the thing which happened with for example that obscure Swamp Dogg produced Maurice McCormick 45 on Atomic Art. It's hard to find on its original US label, but was issued on both german and swedish major labels due to a leasing deal done at one of the MIDEM festivals in Cannes.

I found this one in hamburg and sent it to manship. it's surely no boot and definately not italian because it has "SABAM" on the label. so it must be from benelux (dutch or belgium - see attachment). an old european emi-group release catalog i've seen in a record shop says "not released" for this special cat.-no. the record's out of a source of used condition publisher archive near hamburg.
