Charles Johnson never had a love
Hi Peter, Yes You are correct, That is the same fellow, see him quite regular but i have to say with his long hair and beard now WHITE the youngsters in Scunthorpe Town Centre when shopping with their parents call him Father Christmas, I kid you not. Always looked like a Hippie but he has a fabulous record collection, got a great memory of all things (back then) and could always be seen on stage at venues with his note book, always greeted people with "Bless You My Child" a loveable Character 🙂

Charles Johnson never had a love
Bought as a brand new release at the time from John Manship who at the time of getting in stock was Listing the "A" Side as a deep soul Classic record, I bought a copy after a phone call to him and on receiving record played both side being blown away with NHALSG, Myself and J.C. (TOM Paddison On Here) both bought copies same day. Played it That weekend and it took off but it disappeared for sale as quick as it appeared and remained in demand since, A true soul masterpiece and yes Manship was right, The "A" side damn good too.

A youth culture left in the hands of old men'
The Scene WAS an Underground Scene in the beginning until the MEDIA and the TELEVISION stuck their noses into it and no one will convince me any different. That is why when punters found out TV Cameras were going to visit a certain venue Soulies stayed away. THEY DID NOT WANT THE PUBLICITY because they knew what the out come would be, and they were right. This is my last contribution to this thread as it has lost it's way and i can't be arsed with it.

A youth culture left in the hands of old men'
As i reflect on a lot of things mentioned in this thread Some wonderful things said by (and it has to be said by some wonderful people) that looking back on the Scene how things have changed so much in nowadays when discussing a Nite out or a Day out you hear more these days about is there a Bar and how expensive are the drinks going to be and not Who will be spinning the Music, booze being more important as to what is going to be played (Quality Wise) Do people to day realise the a lot of the venues we went to were Alcohol Free, Wigan Casino, Cleethorpes Pier (If memory serves me right), and many others Mainly Niters, but there were many others that you Wise Old Owls probably remember better than me, but we didn't mind as It Was About The Music, I still remember that famous line quoted in a N. S. Documentry about going out dancing all nite (what you go out dancing and thy don't serve beer and you don't go to pick up Birds) Still makes me Smile Have a Great Week End Everyone Oh and by the Way, mines a pint of Orange and Lemonade, Thanks

How the hell is this not massive??
JAMES BYNUM - LOVE MUSIC ( UN-ISSUED ) I had one of the original Acetates of this that came through John Anderson, Chris Dalton pestered the hell out of me for years to sell it and i reluctantly let him have it, wished i hadn't as it was a Cleethorpes Clasic play for me back in the Day but, hey ho, we do these silly things then live to regret it. Big revival on this now and why it was never legaly issued is a mystery, Fabulous funky Soul Instrumental. Credit must go to Poke as i believe he played it first as he worked for John at Soul Bowl!!!

"POPCORN"
I know a lot of people are going to say, Here we go with another Pigeon Hole For another form of Music or Scene. But, where did the term "Pop Corn" as in Music come from? was it connected in some way with the Low Rider Scene or am i Barking up th wrong tree here. There must be a lot of experts out there who would be able to explain. I have a few records that seem to fit the term but were just purchased because i liked them and not because they were part of any Music Culture. If this Subject has been discussed on here before, appoligies.Rick

A youth culture left in the hands of old men'
The thing is about the subject of the threads original title, there are too many venues being run by people who *Never Went Any Where* and this is not aimed at the Young Folks either, We need young Blood. I'm talking about Old people (not as old as me it has to be said) but by Old people who Claim They used to go here, they used to go there, they used to go every where but were soon found out to be *Pretenders* "Pound Land" promoters putting on genraly *Handbag Nites* in the Guise of N S Nites, thankfully there are still *Old people* who have been around since it's conception who know what they are doing because they have been there, had the tee shirts etc. It take Wise Old heads who still remember what it was all about to put good venues on and help and advise where needed, then the youngsters can learn from us instead of movies on the subject that Fail to Deliver.

How the hell is this not massive??
You are Correct on it being Big at Cleggy, Was big for Soul Sam or may have been Poke, my memories shot Ha Ha, and Myself There, It was a very hard record to find on an original at the time and rarely comes up for sale as i for sure would not sell mine, brilliant double sider by the way and is very collectable for that side also, don't know about a revival but i still play mine out at our Modern Nites and a lot of people on here seem to be looking for an original copy, wasn't as big as it should have been back in the day due to it's rarity i would think.
