Great little Soul Bowl soul pack tune from the 70's. There's another good version of this but I can't remember who it's by now. Jordi
  2. Real nice post that.
  3. Fair enough guys, we've got very different ears and soul tastes obviously.
  4. What a cracking idea, bound to make millions. Pity you wont see f@ck all of the records when the cake is on, or even after it's been sliced up and handed out with all the gunk left on the records. Jesus H, why don't they just have a northern soul car boot sale and have done with it.
  5. You're wrong Mark. Different people get different things from Terry Callier, true he hasn't done many tunes that are northern soul style, although Look at me now and Ordinary Joe as Pete says are both fantastic pieces. He's done some wonderful mellow, chilled out soul jazz folk stuff that sounds so good on a Sunday morning, if not at a northern all nighter. Here's couple of killers (both on one 45) Jordi
  6. Fantastic!! I spend a lot of time away from the soul scene these days, with non soul friends who are well into music but something like this would be met with almost derision from them, whereas for me every hair on my body stands up and i get the cold shivers. Isn't it funny how music can get you like that, but to other people who don't know soul, it is meaningless. Something about group harmony soul and sweet soul that get to my very core. Jordi
  7. I would have filmed that session for nothing. (I am a cameraman). You really appreciate the talent involved when you see it in a small atmospheric studio like that, no frills, just sweat and passion. Imagine witnessing some of the great tracks being recorded. To have been a fly (or a cameraman) would have been humbling. (may be not for the fly). Jordi Jordi
  8. That's unbelievable. Was he a rock drummer? Henry Gibson's conga and bongo playing was absolute dynamite, hence so many people wanting him to work with him. He played with a feel and vibe that could not be done through instruction or lessons. I've never heard anybody play like he did, totally unconventional but with a feel for the tracks that no one could touch. Any drummer who could groove would appreciate Henry riding shotgun on the side. Jordi
  9. Very sad, my other percussion hero was Master Henry Gibson who also passed away. I would love to see the full video clip. Jordi
  10. I'm presuming this is another Joel style wind up right?

Plus you get a nice 45 of "Right On For the Darkness" to play at home. Jordi
  12. Steve, I didn't know the Meters "Be My Lady" was on a 45. Jordi
  13. I used to love (still do) the stompers / shufflers. Here's one that used to be absolutely massive at the time but you never hear it now. Creative Source - Don't be afraid to take my love. (Polydor) The LP version is even better than the 45 with extended Stomperness at the end. Jordi
  14. How much is the Tony Lampkin these days?
  15. . Hope you're well Adam.
  16. Yes, this wa always a big East Yorkshire coast tune. Paul Temple used to play this at Rudies in Scarborough in the late 70's at the all dayers. Happy days and killer 70's tunes always played.

Another one with a really great sweet flip. I'm not crazy about the Really love you side but then again I always thought the northern version was boring as hell. Horses and that. Jordi
