  4. Yep, I read this page and listened to the tracks a few months ago when I was thinking of bidding on a 12" of theirs (which went very cheap!). I've got the Paula Marie Multi Sound 45 and the flip "I want you dear" is utterly amazing, crushing deep soul. Jordi
  5. I was expecting the Bobby Burn 'Dreamer' to go for more. The world of the Manship auctions - sometimes they're up, sometimes they're down. Jordi

  7. The post I made, then edited, that should have been a PM.
  8. Totally agree, and Bob, you add a wealth of knowledge and sanity to this forum. Respect indeed.
  9. I've got a version of this on a jazz/funk compilation lp which is a very stripped down version, heavy on the bass line and not as much synth. Different again from the UK and US 45 versions. Jordi
  10. Let's hope Joolz doesn't ruin it by playing his honky tonk piano through her songs. Jordi
  11. I would have thought the 12" should be £25 - £40, not the $500 Craig Meorer wants.
  12. Yes it's longer take and really is the essential way to have it as it has a cracking flute solo and break that you don't get on the 7". Great tune. Jordi
  13. Sounded nice on 'This is England 88' on tv last night. Jordi
  14. Bob, I saw a one sided Stang by Mother of Three on ebay a couple of days back, I'd never heard of this. Do you know it? is it good? Jordi
  15. Bob, as Steve G says, it's a young 17 yr old Melissa Morgan. Ila Vann does a take on it but I don't think this came out at all. The BBP version never got released either, but it did come out on a demo. Jordi
  16. It was me actually Flanny. You traded with me for a copy of the Stan Martin LP. It did take me a while to find out who it was though, Mike Charlton gave me a good lead with the Pittsburg connection. Jordi
  17. Jesus!! some killer rares in there as well. Hope you get them back David and if you find out who the thief is, make sure he never steals again. Jordi
  18. Pete, it looks like another white label boot from the 90's with a load of contemporary R&B stuff on. The Midnight Music series of boots were all 70's / 80's 2 step and rare groove classics and obscurities. Jordi

I don't know where you have seen me state that only my opinion matters and nobody elses does, that's a nice bit of word twisting a tabloid news reporter would be proud of. My point was aimed at the poster who produces a weak 70's disco tune and a northern oldie as his examples of crossover, both of which only ever get played in northern rooms. If he knows f@ck all about crossover, why does he answer the thread starters question? As a response to the question, I didn't think it was very helpful and his comment about crossover being designer soul was ridiculous. VIP's post was a good reply and he chose 2 very good examples to illustrate how brilliant crossover can be.

Great reply VIP. and what a class pair of tunes as examples. To be honest anyone who dismisses crossover as designer soul or shit etc, are either talking out of their arses, attempting comedy or talking out of their arses. What you will find however, is that the northern crowd will usually be dancing to uptempo crossover tunes about 5 years after the crossover fans have been playing them. Forget about genres and enjoy good music. Jordi
