Sisters Love On Jm Auction
I think some people see a record in an auction and automatically think it must be hard to get if the said dealer has put it in an auction. Its not helped by dealers putting records that aren't that hard to get, into auctions instead of set sale, but of course we all know that by doing so potentially increases prices and therefore profit. Dealers also know what records they get asked for regularly, so if they get hold of a not so rare, but popular record then chances are it will go into an auction as there will be a chance of a couple of people battling it out and therefore pushing the price up. Also since the rise of ebay people have got used to auctions so more people see it as normal, which adds to the equation. I get put off buying some records if they go into auction as I can't be bothered, of course it can work the other way and you grab a bargain, but most times it doesn't seem that way to me, at least not anymore. You may be able to tell that I prefer a record for sale at a set price and then I can make a decision whether to buy or not (so long as someone else hasn't beat me to it). Sometimes change isn't always for the better.

Same Backing Track?
Some help needed as I don't know if my mind is playing tricks and I'm imagining things or whether the grey matter is failing and I can't remember? So: The Creations - A dream - Zodiac Brothers of Soul - Dream - Shock Both the same song with different arrangements. But has this backing track been used on anything else? I seem to have it swirling round my head but don't know if I've dreamt this one up and its starting to bug me now? Thanks EC

Who Played What At Wigan ?
At the end of the day it wasn't always about what was played but what you chose to dance to. Always was and always will be.

Tearra On Ebay
Personally I think its a joke expecting to sell a record that skips for that money, as elgeepee said it makes it pretty worthless, but there always seems to be someone out there! I would love to know how much high ticket soul goes to other countries besides UK ones and whether those countries have lower or no import charges? At a tangent, but parts of this song sound like a slowed down version of Your Song (Dells etc not Elton) to me.

Discoveries-They Would Have Happened Anyway
I get Ian D's point about pretty strict parameters when assessing a potential northern record back in the 70's and I get how it changed in the 80s, however as much as I hear stories of The Seven Souls clearing the dancefloor in the 70s things like George Kirby, Ray Pollard, Gene McDaniels etc all did well at Wigan so some tracks that were slower than the norm made it. Cool Off isn't exactly 100 mph so who was championing the exceptions? Its starting to sound like the 80s changed everything but to my ears that change had already started. The 80s wasn't a overturning of the 70s just a progression of a wider range of tempos, productions etc that had already started.

The guy who wrote Wild Thing and Angelof the Morning. Also Jon Voights brother and Angelina Jolie's uncle! A bit of talent in that family.
