Steve Jeffries runs 'rarenorthernsoul' records but I believe his son Lee does these sonicwax issues.

I agree, & if i had never heard the HM orig then i would have thought it was great.

As a punter i hate hearing the same record twice and unless i am the only one then the dj would keep one person (who requested it) happy at the expense of the rest. I once dj'd at an event and someone came up and asked me if i would play the record i had just played again in a minute because his friend liked it and hadnt heard it before!
  11. I wondered what these 'Bitcoins' looked like.
  12. 'Someone to treat me' is also a class record which went down well when i played it.......
  13. i've played this out a couple of times and i think it is a great dancer... Devons 'groovin with my thing' . would be interested if it has or is getting plays .
  14. I'm sure that is the case for a lot of punters, however in my experience when this has come up in discussion the (if you like the less 'discerning') or those that take less interest in such matters are often surprised that re-issues/boots are played at paying events and sort of assumed that the 'real records' are being played.
  15. I also thought JM put it quite well. For me ovo 'encourages' more varied playlists with dj's having to think about a set and I love some of the classic oldies as much as anyone but i want to hear them on the rare occasion making it special.
  16. technically 'pressing' relates to the physical manufacturing process of making a disc i.e. at the pressing plant. So you could refer to test press, first press, second press etc.. although it is commonly used as the terminology for a bootleg/illegal pressing...... as chalky has referred to there are (many) examples of local & national releases and i thought (so long as fairly near in timescales) they would both be thought of as an original rather than a re-issue - be interested to know if others take a different view on this.
  17. if NS was a person they could sue for defamation of character.
  18. I cant imagine selling my collection (other than odd bits i dont much care for) so it would have to be because of severe financial situation. The decision making involved would be so stressful that having thought about i would do a LIFO method i.e. the most recent purchase would go first and work back until i was left with my first 'northern' record purchased sometime in the mid seventies, being a highly warped Frankie Valli your ready now (not even the original i was led to believe it was at the time) that i dont even like. (& i've just realised that i have sorted of cheated as i would exclude my 'marvin gaye collection' which is going nowhere)
  19. Hi soulman62, just wondering why you have given me a down vote for pointing out that the SCD take on the scene is so cringeworthy, my view seems to be in line with the majority of the posters. cheers rich.
  20. if you thought the actual live show was bad you probably dont want to watch this......
  21. did a deal in jan this year, all done in one day and record arrived 2 days later.
  22. Hi Rictic, just seen your reply. Thanks but already had a googa mooga which can now go!

Just checking out a couple of records including copy of Benny Troy which has same details as soul16 from this old thread.... This copy is the 3.56 mix on both sides (no disco mix) but if i look at JM's book he only mentions one with disco mix as being original and the ones without as being re-issues. I am not sure if this is because he is referring to the original issue rather than any demo variants.. I am also wondering if there were any re-issues(or boots) of the demo anyway? any help to confirm if an original or a re-issue would be gratefully received.
  24. Hi, please pm with price & condition if you happen to have one going. thks.

No, although if only doing a small/single spot and it was a weekender with live acts etc.. then maybe.
