Songs That Really Pull At Your Heart Strings . . .
I used to play this a lot during a particularly sad time in my life, whilst drinking large whiskies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAMXUlVjFZY

Top 5 Martha & Vandellas ?
This has always been a favourite of mine. LP track only I believe. Written by Smokey Robinson, it's quite sad but incredibly optimistic and uplifting at the end. A fantastic example of his song writing skills. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6k0lNL6K4E

Awesome - New - Soul Track Discovery - 1St Feb 2014
It's overused again in this case imo. It's ok, quite good I guess but not awesome.

Better Without The Vocals
What paul? "I Can See Him Loving You?" I think that's great but I kinda get the similarity.

Better Without The Vocals
God that is terrible ha ha. Thanks for putting it up Kev. Totally unsoulful vocal. I still love the instrumental though

Better Without The Vocals
I didn't know there was a vocal version of this. Anyone got a sound clip please?

Tamla? Gordy? Vip? Why
In terms of allocating artists to labels, I gather there wasn't any system or raionale behind it.

Frank Wilson At Cala Gran,fleetwood
Did Johnny Bristol really sing at the Orwell? When was that?

Mark R's Nu Soul/soulful Dance 2013 Hot Ones
Thanks Mark. Great no. 1 in the soul chart. No Elements of Life "You came Into My Life" featured? I guess the CD has so many great tracks.

My 15 year old son loves that stuff too. He will be impressed when I tell him what I've learnt today

Blues & Soul Charts Project
Yeah I don't particularly like that song either but Mary has done plenty of other good ones. The Xmas album is the first one I didn't buy. The two before that were awful. Jill Scott, however, goes from strength to strength

Blues & Soul Charts Project
There was actually a lot of great soul music released in 2001. Not much of it features here though with the exception of the wonderful Jill Scott, Sunshine Anderson, Mary J. Blige and Joe.

I didn't see Stephen Fry but wondered why Steve Coppell, in the mac, was there.

That Yvonne Fair Record
What a strange choice. It sounds like a cross between Nutbush City Limits and Lady Marmalade

Gene Latter-Sign On The ....................... Orig?
Haven't heard for years. I still like it.

What Is Pop Music?
Why? They're different somgs which just have the same title? Also, it sounds nothing like William Bell

Blues & Soul Charts Project
It's incredible how quickly things changed. As you said the top 50 is full of pop/chart hits and the big club sounds are much lower down the list like Jocelyn Brown, Temptations, Rose Royce & Terri Wells. Even Luther Vandross and Bobby Womack didn't make the top 100.

Corey Glover Little Girl
I've got it too but it's still a boot and pretty worthless IMO. For a scene that prides itself on playing originals then it would have to be the CD that would played out.
-
Lisa Stansfield
Really? That's a bold statement. She's a quite a good pop singer.

Serious Soul
So are they just a sort of semi professional kind of CDR? I agree the track listing looks great for the example above but quite a few of the tracks have appeared elsewhere.

Clubs In Manchester Mid To Late 70's
I'm surprised Russ hasn't claimed that Al Green used to visit the Casino!
