What Is Wrong With You Promoters ?
Ah yes Mike, but then people would start bitching about the thread that was started because of bitching about bitching on the other thread which means the new thread would then have people bitching about people bitching about people bitching on the original thread. Life's a bitch sometimes

Where Are They Now?
That was Jim & Soap at the Blackburn allniters. Last heard of living with an oil rig worker (male) in Aberdeen. There was a tv programme about the tranistion from male to female which he / she featured in.

Is The 'Upfront' Soul Scene Disappearing Up It'S Own A*se?
I know Steve has been to Lifeline Chalky, And I also know that he would support the ethos behind Lifeline. And whilst I wear the brogues, and Fred perry, you definitely have more hair than me, so can't agree that you are an upfront dinosaur

6ts 100 Club the 32 year pilgrimage
It was a pilgrimage ! Down to worship our religion at the 32nd Anniversary of the 100 Club allnighters. On board we had Gospel Bob, Dave the Bishop Of Banbury, the Reverend Rimmer, Sister Sharon the dancing Nun, and Verger John. Despite a late start we made good time down to London, with no hold ups for traffic. This was of course expected, we were on a Mission from God ! As we pulled up at the back of the 100 Club, Ady 'the Godfather' Croasdell was just arriving as well. We paid our respects, (although I told John that trying to kiss the hem of his robe was a little over the top), and I gave Ady a lift down the stairs with all the Anniversary singles. I did actually try to run off with one box, but he caught me. I helped Trickster put the tables out, all fourteen of them, and then sat down with a beer to wait for the music to start. As with all the Anniversaries it was mostly Oldies, but less this year than others I felt. To be honest, Butch and Keith played pretty much their normal type of spots, Roger Stewart provided the link back to the early days of 6Ts by contributing a couple of good spots. Ady debuted the new Pied Piper recordings that he has recently unearthed (And there were such a lot of good, no, great tracks, that I can't wait for the CD), and that left Mick Smith. For me, Mick Smith made the night. Three spots through the night, and he showed that if you want quality, rare Oldies, delivered with enthusiasm, this was the way to do a spot. A new record was set as well. Where I sit selling records you can always tell how many of the women haven't been to the 100 Club before because they come towards the Gents toilet whilst looking for the Ladies. We count how many do it each Anniversary. Last year it was ten, this year there was a 33% increase, as the number rocketed up to thirteen. I often wonder how do these people hear about the Anniversary, and where do they get their tickets from ? Talking of which, who the hell let the 6'5" East European in. Not only was he huge, he was completely hammered and kept asking if I had any Rolling Stones or Pink Floyd records for sale. Oh yeah, and kylee made a new friend who's extremely good at projectile vomiting ! The last laugh of the night came in McDonalds though. I introduced Charlie Mac from Banbury to Jessica from New York. He asked where she was from, and Jess replied Wales, where she has been living for several years now. You could see the cogs turning and the strong smell of burning as Charlie tried to associate Jess' strong New York accent with Wales. Eventually the look of confusion on Charlie's face was only cleared when he actually said "That's not a Welsh accent is it ?" As always I thoroughly enjoyed the music, the company, and the Anniversary single. Well done to all the DJs, and everyone else who made the night such a success. Price Please: Dream Merchants On Renee Wd
That's what Lenny Dopson covered it up as a few years back, Walter & The Admerations. I'd suggest £50 for a mint whitte demo, but I should wait until a few others have offered their expertise before you take my opinion as being anywhere close to accurate

Was It A Crazy Idea ?
I thought it was a great idea, and had great fun working my set so that I could play a white demo on the left hand deck everytime

Allnighter Dates For 2012
Well folks, as it's almost October, it's about now that I start hassling allnighter promoters for their dates for next year. Especially as the All Nighter Planner has gained a reprieve ! So, If you want your dates including in the 2012 All Nighter Planner, a PM to me will get it sorted for you. I've already got Rugby, Lifeline, and New Century Soul's regular dates, plus a few others, so hopefully everyone else will supply their dates so that clashes can be avoided wherever possible. Let's face it, I'm sure, like me, you'd ratrher see one good, busy allnighter than three poorly attended ones.

The General State Of Our Beloved Soul Scene
Been to loads of places that I really enjoyed for lots of reasons, but the one night that reinvigorated my soul when I was getting a bit stuck in a rut was Kindred Soul at Bidds.

The Soul Discography V R&b Indies
The biggest difference is the Soul Discographies covers artist discographies rather than label discographies. So it depends what sort of information you are looking for. It's very detailed in the discographies themselves, but obviously duplicates a lot of information simply because the R & B discogs contain the labels that the artists releases are on.

The General State Of Our Beloved Soul Scene
Well said Joan, At the end of the day, it's a night out. And if I'm going out for the night, I go out to enjoy myself, which means I usually do. All this navel gazing and analyzing just get's away from the fact it's there to be enjoyed ! Go out with the attitude that you will enjoy yourself, and you will. Simple as that.

Surreal Dj Requests
The two I love are "Can you play something we know", how the hell do I know what they know ??? and "Can you play some Motown" as you've got one on Gordy spinning and one on Motown cued up next I've been asked for some Beatles, some Abba, some Rock and Roll, and told a set of uptempo Oldies I played was "Wedding music, have you got nothing fast" People always tend to come when you have two records left to play and request something ! Or leave a hand written list of 300 records, and you can't read any of it ! I once got asked "Can you play dominoes?" "yes" "Good, f*ck off and do it cos you can't play records" Many years ago at Bretby, I made the mistake of saying "I never plan a spot in advance, I just open the box and play what I feel is right. I'd even play the spoons" The following month, five minutes into my spot, someone came and asked if I'd got any spoons to play, I of course said no. At which point he produced two plastic spoons and said "you'd better 'ave these then". This went on through the whole spot, by the end of the hour I had the full picnic set, plastic spoons, knives, forks, even the bloody serviettes ! Thank you to Gaye Kidson for that one Me and Phil Richards and wives were once at a venue where Mick H was DJing. He didn't know our wives at this point, so Margie and Sue kept going up asking for things like 'The Snake'. Micjk was ever so polite in explaining that he didn't have it with him. By the time they had been four times you could see Mick looking more and more exasperated. He suddenly worked out where they were sitting, and saw me and Phil helpless with laughter. Of course if you are going to take the piss out of a DJ, you have to remember he is the one with the microphone Mick's response was "Rimmer, you bastard, that's a bottle of bud you owe me". Oh, but it was worth it just to see his face

The Supremes - Stormy
Hi Brett, When you say an official re-edit, do you mean one approved by Motown ? Just puzzled why it isn't on a Motown label ?
