8 Track Stereo Tapes?
In passing my test, used to drive my Dad's MK3 Cortina 2000E in it we had the standard MW/LW radio and underneath the dashboard was an 8-track player. However this came with the car and we didn't have any 8-track tapes, but my mates Dads had some! The problem was they were all rubbish, so all we got to play were: The Beatles (greatest hits), Roxy Music (my mate liked 'em), The Stylistics & finally the one that got played the most Buddy Holly greatest hits. It got played that much I can even now singalong to almost all his songs , was even at one point during the 80's considering having a scooter with the name Rave On! painted on it. How sad is that? Rave On, it's a crazy feeling.........

Beware This Ebayer Currency_Merchant
Fair enough, but what about like some sellers state "Anything over £50 (or whatever value you feels necessary) has to be insured"? Maybe that's the alternative.

Beware This Ebayer Currency_Merchant
The following is purely from a buyers point of view, alright my point of view . I buy a few bits from ebay. Why not just put on listing that item will only be sent insured? When I look to buy I take mailing into account of the cost. I really don't have a problem with sellers asking/demanding for stuff to be insured, in fact I think it can only be beneficial to both parties. I always thought items were sold on the sellers terms. Obviously if a buyer is charged extra for insurance and the stuff arrives wrapped in a bin bag with a second class stamp stuck to it, then there's reason to complain.

The Holidays - I'll Love You Forever
Anybody know who this is singing on the first one? I believe (or at least have read in the past) that the second one is Edwin Starr on vocals, but haven't heard the first one before. Anyone got any info? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOvnF8xA1Gw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1estDCHz82o&feature=fvw

Anyone Seen This Cd Before?

Anyone Seen This Cd Before?
Reading between the lines, I'd say all on that site were dodgy. At the bottom of each CD listing there's a mention of thanks to rippers & uploaders, I'm assuming it's like one of those file sharing sites. I don't think we'll be seeing any of these in the local Asda or HMV anytime soon.

Good Tunes That Are Still Cheap To Buy
My 5... Edwin Starr - SOS/I Have Faith In You - RicTic David Ruffin - Walk Away From Love - Motown Garland Green - Jealous Kind Of Fella - Uni Hollidays - I'll Love You Forever - Golden World Jackie Wilson - Sweetest Feeling - Brunswick Think you wouldn't be too far off £50, not with some sellers on Ebay stateside anyway. If you had cash in your pocket, you could do worse than seek out Des Parker's sales at any event that he's at.

Last heard, last night @ Solid Hit Soul. It got a few dancing, mind you I wasn't one of 'em!- Top Dj C/u
Because it's called bootlegging and it's illegal! Like what's previously been stated, why not just direct people to where they can buy the CD? Why should you profit before the artist/writers & performers?- So What's A Stormer ?
I'm not bothered what others on here have listed as stormers, but I am intrigued as to what the Okish ballad was? C'mon Dave, what was it?- Opinions Wanted - Su Kramer - You've Got The Power
Articulate and to the point as ever, I'm with Pete on this one!- Having A Laugh. Prices Plus Paypal Fees
As I buyer, it doesn't really bother me if the seller requests extra for the paypal fees. The records I purchase are normally quite cheap anyway, so the extra is ususally only a couple of quid. But then being the tightwad that I am I usually work it all out before contacting the seller, and if I think it's too much I don't buy. Simples!- Fabulous Impacts /moments
The following is what you'd call selective editing from the sleevenotes of the 100 Club Anniversary Singles CD . Ady bought an acetate of it in NYC, he then sold it to Keb Darge, before it was released in 1990 as an anniversary single. Then 10 years later someone turned up a copy of The Moments on HOG. For more info buy a copy of the CD, only thing is due to last minute legal hitch this track had to be omitted!- Guilty Pleasures
I came in from work today to find the latest record to add to the collection had been delivered that morning. Anyway I digress, the record was one of four that I used to only have on a 4 track bootleg (nightbeat ep) from my scootering days back in the 80's (now all replaced with 4 originals). The 4 tracks were Jimmy Soul Clark - Sweet Darlin', Chubby Checker - At The Discoteque, Billy Butler - The Right Track & Tony Clarke's Landslide. I purchased the Chubby Checker last year at the 100 Club, but at the time I felt a little embarrassed at buying such a well known and easily available record. It was the feeling that it was one of those records that should have been tucked away in the collection many years ago, but had now become a symbol of the played out oldie, as such feeling like it should have been placed in a brown paper bag and I should hastily make my exit (a bit like buying top shelf magazines , or so I've been told ). Has anybody else felt like this when buying any records, or indeed have you been prevented from buying a record you want for fear of ridicule?- Northern Northern Soul V
Pretty sure you'll find that back in 2005, Lifeline was held at a club called Sheridans somewhere in Yorkshire. PS Whatever happened to Bladeforlife?- The North South Divide
Mr Pot calling Mr Kettle!- The North South Divide
I don't honestly believe there's a nighter scene down South as such. True you have the 100 Club, but the only other allnighters that I can think of are Crossfire (2 to 3 times a year) this is a predominantly Mod event, being promoted by The New Untouchables. Or at least that's the impression that I get. Then there's the Bank Holiday Allnighters in Brighton and just recently Riverside Soul (Mike E) have started an allnighter in Gloucester (more South West than South). The South seems to be predominantly more soul nights/evenings. I feel that there are more people willing to attend allnighters in the North. Also the distances that people have to travel affects attendances. Up North you've got in my opinion a better motorway/road network (M6/M1/M62),also cross pennine train services between towns like York, Sheffield, Manchester & Crewe makes travelling easier. Down here we've got the M25, a glorified car park. Yes there are some southerners that travel regularly up north to attend events, but how many northerners would travel for 4+ hours to attend an event that may finish at 3 or 4 am? I recently posted on another forum that people are probably more willing to travel longer distances to attend an allnighter (8+ hours of soul), than the same distance for a soul night that could be over in 41/2 hours. Finally I don't think you can compare the music & behaviour of people attending a scooter rally allnighter and those at a soul allnighter. At a soul allnighter people are there firstly for the music, at a scooter rally they're there predominantly for the scooters and an allnighter is a great venue to remain pissed allnight with others you may not see until the next rally (which nowadays seems to be every other weekend)!- Travel Arrangements For 100 Club
I caught a nightbus home once from the 100 Club. I say home, more like 5 miles away from where I live, I live south of Heathrow airport, nightbus only goes to northside of it! So had to walk the rest of the way . Never again, the driver was a loon trying to cram on as many passengers as possible (like a rush hour train). Also there was a thalidomide tramp on board who stank (I swear this is true ), he smelt so bad whenever a seat became available people moved further away from him. If I never go on a nightbus again it will be too soon!- Travel Arrangements For 100 Club
Last Saturday I parked the car in Berners Street, just around the corner from the 100 Club. There's no parking restrictions after about 8.30pm on a Saturday night.- The Four Sonics Plus One
"SHE WONT COME BACK" THE HESITATIONS.I SMELL A CONSPIRACY!! YES JACK ASHFORD OUT WITH HIS MATES AGAIN REGARDS DOOG Talking of Jack Ashford & The Four Sonics. Any excuse to post this up . The Four Sonics - Easier Said Than Done - Sport -- Record Mountain Growing By The Day
I've bought a couple of times from Des at events, on both occasions he's knocked off £20 from what would have been £50 sales. It's not as if the records are overpriced in the first place! When this happens I'm tempted to return to his sales boxes before other sellers. Also like has previously been stated the variation in some of the prices (as well as grades)by some sellers, sometimes beggers belief. As for myself I'll continue buying something that I want or can afford each month, otherwise I feel like I'm going to work for nothing .- Motown/northern?
