Sidney Barnes@the Dome Review In Soul Up North Which Issue?
Your help is required please. Does anybody know which issue of Soul Up North Mark Hanson did a review of Sidney Barnes singing at The Dome in London? It was at least 10 years ago and I was there that night. I'm almost certain I've got the relevant issue somewhere, trouble is all my fanzines are tightly boxed up and it's one of those loose threads thats been blowing about in my mind for far too long. talk of the midlands, derby, november 1979
Remember going down in a van to this all-nighter with my mate Tim Robinson whoes face appears many times in my albums. Only recently completely out of the blue he said "I remember played Dane Valery "You don't know where you're interest lies" over and over on a tape all the way there and all the way back". I've absolutely no recollection of that. Ain't it surprising what some people remember?

A tiny old store just north of Miami with a note in the window (just to the left of the tree) that caught my interest. -

A fine example of what we boys from up north do best. We go out and we dance. The mighty Chuddy giving it some. Go on. -

So I was just out one night having a quiet drink when...... Nidge Mayfield another one of the scene's great characters. Just one of the reasons why we love going out. -

Bolton's Paul Johnson exceedingly pleased with the large and rather expensive bundle of rare soul 45s he's just bargained me down on. Yet another legendary Pearson Fair Deal. -

Jim Eddleston arguing with me over the 50p he owed me.....(smile). Spent a lot of time with him & Mo over the years a long time ago. The Keni Lewis @ the 100 Club story always makes me smile even though I can't recall it. -

I spy with my little eye a man by the name of John Kingham. Had some laughs with him over the years. Mad as a fruitcake. He made me feel pretty normal actually. -

Fast Dance Records
Top of the list has got to be........ you know you want to dance and you should but I can't. Curtis Mayfield "Move On Up". Classic is just too small a word to describe this. Derek x
