  1. Can someone stick the link up please Cheers Richard
  2. Stealing records is just despicable Hope Eddie gets them back Richard
  3. This monster sound of Detroit group Northern from the legendary Falcons came out on both green and blue Big Wheel labels. The blue label seems quite a bit rarer, but does anyone know why it was pressed in the two colours, which came first etc.? Cheers Richard
  4. Yes, think you're right on that one Bri Would love to see one if it exists on WDJ though Quite hard on an issue in any case - some of them are very hissy so I guess that explains the rarity compared to some of the other Diamond releases Fantastic backing track on the record too - brill brass arrangement
  5. Suspect not Dave - can't recall seeing one - will check my scan library though just in case - quite a rare one this Cheers Richard

Isn't Lovemasters on Jacklyn Chicago rather than Detroit?
  7. Fabulous double-sider. One side uptempo. Flip a bit like Bob & Fred. Cheers Richard
  8. Anything by Levine us usually pretty terrible and I have to agree that '... Night Owl' CD is total garbage. Taking into account all the CDs and DVDs, that man has ruined more Northern tracks than I've had hot dinners. He seems obsessed with adding in sampled Motown drum licks too for some weird reason. For me, one of the things I like about Northern is that it does NOT sound like Motown. Cheers Richard
  9. Cheers Tabs Great - that's the 12-2 slot on Sunday sorted then Cheers Richard
  10. Is that Rob guesting on the Nick Turvey Shades of Soul show then? That is the one that seems to be on Tuesdays and repeated Sunday Here's the station schedule page: https://banburyinternetradio.com/programmes.htm Cheers Richard
  11. I would never have thought of the Salvadors as a blue-eyed tune - sounds nothing like it Probably the best male group Northern Soul record ever Cheers Richard
  12. Anyone got anymore updates on alternative plans for these great shows please? Cheers Richard P.S. This is the message you get if you try and go to the Boundary Sound website. You need to read between the lines a bit to get to the real story behind the closure. It is with deep regret that we have to announce the closure of Boundary Sound, due to financial circumstances beyond our control. Transmission on 102.6fm ended at 7pm on Thursday 23 June 2011. We would like to take this opportunity to extend our sincere thanks to all the advertisers and guests who have supported the station since its launch and especially since the station began broadcasting full time in January 2009. Thanks must also go to the many volunteers who gave so generously of their time and expertise to bring high quality, full-time community radio to Newark and the surrounding villages.
  13. Love this track Someone said on a previous thread on here that although Jan sounds white, she was in fact black - evidenced by a picture which unfortunately never got posted up P.S. found the link Cheers Richard
  14. All of Dave's stuff is top class - from soul, funk, through to classy jazz I also love Pisces Pace on TCB and Shoop Doop on Demoristic Love Bobby Dee on Demoristic and also Little Stevie on the same label which seems quite obscure - a kind of gospel/soul thing. I put Little Stevie in Refosoul a while ago - but of course that's down at the moment so I can't link to the soundfile Cheers Richard
  15. Sad news indeed. I'm a big fan of Dean's show. Will be sadly missed. And of course Doug's 60s show too. Let's hope the guys get something else in place.
  16. Have seen the Shotgun release which is #203 listed as the missing number on the Groove City numbering system - after Fred Briggs #202 and before Steve Mancha #204. Interesting that because the labels are also similar colours The label of the I Need Help side credits Artie Fields on the publishing side so a Detroit connection there Cheers Richard
  17. Listened to it - loved it Just underlines again how sophisticated this man's work was - much of it true crossover IMO (no not 'crossover' as we know it) - a truly creative crossover of soul, funk, northern and that strong jazz influence - pure brilliance His instrumentals are phenomenal Richard
  18. Got mine today (thanks Ady!) and I'm just about to play it Excellent sleeve notes Cheers Richard
  19. Hi Bob You got any more info for us please? Thank you Richard

    That's 6 not 7
  24. Spyder Turner was renowned for having a varied and adaptable range of vocal sounds and styles - as shown on 'Stand By Me' It is deffinitely 'Laskey'-like Rob and I know what you mean - but I'm not convinced it's Emanuel - not quite 'Laskey' enough If Spyder said it was him I guess we should take his word for it Cheers Richard
  25. Went for £125 - unbelievable https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150617778111&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_3664wt_932 Cheers Richard
