  1. HI A easy ome for me to answer? way back in 1972, when I first heard this classic, it instantly become a must have, and when Chris BURTON put it out on HIS out of the past label, it satisfied my need, however by 1974, I wanted decent looking records in my box, so I hunted down the VIP copy, and for some time I was happy with the white DEMO, Only to discover there was a colord VIP DEMO with a B SIDE, & IT HAD ALSO HAD A VIP ISSUE, I still have a white DEMO with 'why am i' on both side, to-days value £60, a rule of thumb is the VIP ISSUE is worth 3 x current value of the white DEMO, that makes it £200, but if I had one to-day, I would want £250, lets see what our US Collectors have to say? DAVE
  2. HI ALL...Not sure if this has been put up before, but it is my favourate version of STORMY - BILLY ECKSTINE -STAX 140, Value about £5 but worth every penny, :ohmy:enjoy DAVE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ao5ejsYS5_g&feature=colike
  3. HI DAVE..#1 DJ He was, although, I was just a FACE back then, I do have great memorys of going around the guest house he owned, he had not been long married, when myself, BIG CLIVE, MICK SMITH & CHRIS GALARD went a calling on him, this was after we went hunting for a well known SOUTHPORT collector, thought he could get away with out paying for records? We took TONY to the HIGHLAND ROOM, were he got a good reception from everyone, then we set of to the CASINO, WHERE AGAIN HE GREATED WITH WARM APLAUSE! he actualy did a spot at the CASINO that night, KEITH MINSHAL gave him use of his DJ BOX, RIGHT ON KEITH, a great night, and the start of the LAVINE IS S**T Campaine, As you well no MICK HAS A CLOSE BOND WITH TONY,and he is deverstated at the news and your apeal, he is away on Holiday with Lynn, but has assured me that he will make contact with TONY when he returns, until he does, we are all thinking positive thoughts for our #1 man, if there is any thing I can do to help, please contact me, also if I can have updates for the lads pleasekeep me informed mate, EACE & LOVE DAVE KILWORTH,
  4. HI ALL The problem with trying to get the US ABC Boot look a like, is it never comes up for sale, although value is about £20, most people would keep hld of it, as it is such a classic and the price diffarance between origanal, and for many the YUM YUMS is the winner?
  5. HI ALL... At this moment I still have this item, the reason I have not put it on EBay is with it, there was a 1st World War German Iron Cross, but have not found any papers linking the 2 items, as for value, I would like ti no? as these are not fake, and not the crown jewls, does anyone on here no someone to value them??
  6. HI Pete I think he means, the US ABC Preessings, in the case of the YUM YUMS, it is the hardest to find now in 2012, DAVE
  7. HI MATE!! It's a case of personal mood! not taste, as both versions, are classic,, never understood why these 2 records are priced, with such a big differance?? as there is always a copy of both, great records DAVE
  8. HI ALL This was in with my late DADS personal Army papers, he was a regular in the ROYAL ENGINEERS, (SAPPER) He was in all the famous WW2 N Africa, ITALY & , D day, but the history behind these picturs, I do not no? he may heve gone? However I was going to put them on Ebay this week, but thought that a soulsource member may be a collector, a good offer and I will sell, they are rare, DAVE

  11. HI ALL Thanks for the positive remarks, personally I ftnd great solis in SOULSOURCE, and have got to meet people through the pages of the site, at times it reminds me of the early days at WIGAN when I had no transport, and how har it was getting to by thumbing a lift, but once there, no matter what my needs were, from complete strangers, that I had just met, I never needed to feel that, by asking was pointless, I have had people come and give me records, and I have said whats that for? and been told "I had 2 and you did me a favour" that is all part of the scene, and it costs nothing most of the time to make someone happy? HAPPY DAYS WITH GREAT MEMORIES, UNDER THE BANNER OF THE NORTHERN SOUL SCENE, DAVE
  12. HI MATE All I can do to help you. is this :- LAFAYETTE VAUGN - RECORDED A FEW SONGS, But thats as far as it went, and i'm not 100% sure but they did not get pressed? he was a 'parrafin lamp' living on the streets of DETROIT, He rocorded the session in October/november 1971, the only other record that I have heared is - 'THAT'S BAD', HOPE THIS HELPS MATE.?? DAVE K
  13. HI ALL This fine tune, that's tucked away on every copy of ARTHER CONLEY - FIRE & WATER must be one of the most overlooked classic that we can all but, and give it away to a freind, and they will thank you forever? AS ALWAYS DAVE https://youtu.be/ldgi3hHS29c
  14. HI ALL.....One day there will be, someone out there in SOULVILE, that can make sence of what the real value of all the 45s going back to PYE DISCO DEMAND are realy worth as collectables? 1. Many of the records since the PDD & MCA 45s like LE ROYE. LADA EDMONDS Jr.DANNY WHITE, & so on, are and have been collected by many UK collectors, at the time of release, but for many it was back in the 80s, when many people started missing their All-Nighters after setleing down to a 2.4 kids Wife mortgage, dog,+ bordom? 2.Taking that on board 60s SOUL, was still very much what it was all about, and collectors were in 2 camps both wanted rare origanals, and exclusive sounds to collect, however 1 group of collectors just wanted US origanals, while the other (my camp) collected both UK & US uptempo dancers and classic Beat Ballards, 3. As I have my roots in the 2nd group, The Grapvine Lable, was a passion for me, 1st to collect all the label, 2nd to get all the lable but on Demos, But my real focus was trying to get all the classic UK records & the top US Norther SOUL records from the Torch Wigan days, 4. In 1983, I went into a record shop in WOLVES Mander Centre, that had a SALE on, and in the racks of 45s, there was a Dozen 45s on UK KENTthe 1st 3 titles, as they were 25p each I had to by the lot, also as I had dropped of the scene in 79, I had no idea of the history of the lable. (also I remember being in HMV, and there was 2 KENT LPs, when looking at the titles on the back, a true quantum leap, happened, as I read IKE & TINA, DANNY MONDAY, MARY LOVE, & my 2nd all time favourate record 'Can it be me?'MEL WILLIAMS,) sadly for me the write up was by HARBRO HORRICE? who the F**k he is? it maent nothing to me then, and even less now, I have heaed about rebranding? mind you some people no me as DtheDRUG, and not as the younger brother of NIGEL KILWORTH? and the antics of the SPIRIT of 69. 5. So this is my question, as most of the records released in the UK that can be orderd by a retailer, are the 1st time the recording was issued in the UK, thus making them playable for any DJ, as they are not pirated copys? however the pureist collector would soon cry FOUL! if that route was taken up? 6. Value, at one time such records were given to me on white lables, or special anniversary records, but in whatever year that the 100 Cub celabrated it 19th Birthday, this stopped as there was a trend to pay stupid money for them, from greedy money making t***s, since then EBay has been filled with dodgey records classed as reissues or 2nd pressings, why! who buys them? 7. WHO MAKES THEM? and WHY are the purist collectors, not nameing and shaming these robbers AS ALWAYS DAVE KILWOTH
  15. 19. HI ALL.....Not sure if I got the answer I was looking for? or was I just putting 'the cat in with the pigions'..proberly! As for the subject of acitates, they fall in 2 groups for many UK collectores, the type 1, is exactly the same as what was issued, these are worth more than a stock copy, but less than the DEMO Copy as a rule of thumb, Type 2 are the alternative cuts that are in very small numbers, a good example are the BEATLES as their stuff always make money, type 1 are rare when the groups contract fails but the songs were compleated, PHIL SPELLMAN in LONDON is the main man for obscure UK 60s stuff, and if it is the right stuff, he pays well for most stuff, The record John sold is at most worth £20, and talking with top UK colector, Mick Smith, he states what we already no, however, he did add that BILLY STEWART has a big following around the world, and sometimes we forget this with certain artists? well here is what you should be looking for! DAVE

Lat year I sold my small collection of PYE accitates, mainly CAMEO PARKWAY, PICCADILLY, PYE INT, But I am totally bemused in the price john got for Billy Stewart Summmertime? this must be hyped up, as at most it is not indemand or a differant cut? , then a copy of BLUES & SOUL SELLS £82, FOR #4?
