  1. Hi Rick, No Mike Terry involvement but, without revealing to much at this stage, the relationship between The Four Perfections and The Weinroths wasn't too good. Regards, Dave
  2. One of the best 'previously unreleased' 45s there is. Have a few colourful anecdotes relating to the Weinroths and their studio 'etiquette' coming in the book I'm putting the finishing touches to. Regards, Dave
  3. Del Sharh IS Carl Fisher. Carl Fisher was of course a prolific songwriter as well as a founding member of The Vibrations. He also penned The Volcanos tracks "Storm Warning" and "The Laws Of Love". Joe Thomas, who also co wrote "I'm Not Strong Enough", if I remember correctly, think went on to became a drummer with a number of famous artists including Curtis Mayfield? Regards, Dave .
  4. Is that where the Blinky Edwards 'Til The End Of Time' came from? Regards, Dave
  5. The higher you build your barriers The taller I become The farther you take my rights away The faster I will run You can deny me You can decide to turn your face away No matter, cos there's.... Something inside so strong I know that I can make it Tho' you're doing me wrong, so wrong You thought that my pride was gone Oh no, something inside so strong Oh oh oh oh oh something inside so strong Labi Siffre
  6. Not read this before. Good catch. ;-) Regards, Dave
  7. I spoke to John about his book and you can order print copies via John's website: https://johnellison.ca/autobiography/ It's distributed by a Canadian guy called Glenn Marshall. If ordering from Europe it's probably worth mentioning that fact on your order as I waited two weeks for mine before contacting him and it hadn't even been shipped yet. STILL haven't received anything, a further ten days on? If it drops soon I'll report back. Regards, Dave
  8. Even those who have Ian down as a 'yah, boo, hiss Northern Soul style pantomime villain' must surely appreciate the SWONS legacy? Massive task, small budget and no cash to even use professional people. I think SWONS is a testament to the UK's love affair with America's soul music rather than view it as a film of cheesy effects. You have to see the wood through the trees... Regards, Dave
  9. Best thing I've seen on here for a quite a while that is. Anyone wanna buy a human kidney? Regards, Dave
  10. Yep, you're probably right. Mines buried somewhere in my currently ad hoc filing system. ;-) Regards, Dave
  11. Demo definitely booted. Real one is Sterling stamped (I think, without checking mine, certainly stamped though). Regards, Dave
  12. Crackin' flip. Well done guys, good luck with it all. Regards, Dave
  13. Kittens Three - Coming Apart At The Seams Best on the label for me. Regards, Dave
  14. Yep, it's based on the same riffs and melody. Much more subdued than JJ Barnes' classic but the similarities are certainly there. Regards, Dave
  15. Here you go Geoff. Enjoy. regards, Dave https://www.blurb.co.uk/search/site_search?search=mark+windle&filter=all&commit=Search
  16. That's the first Atteru stock issue I've seen. Nice one! $22 too - bargain. ;-) Regards, Dave
  17. She is indeed alive. She can't be coerced, convinced to perform again though. Over the years quite a few people have tried to encourage her to return to music but she's steadfastly refuses. Regards, Dave
  18. Have now been contacted and have the info so will lock the topic. Regards, Dave
  19. Guys, My apologies but some kind soul sent me a scan of Vickie Baines "Country Girl" stock Parkway issue and I've misplaced/mistakenly deleted who it was. If it was a soul source member can you let me know so I can annotate the acknowledgment. It was a lovely sleeved copy. Regards, Dave
  20. Ok Votes are in, all done and dusted. Results are above but top three afgter the 175 votes were as follows: Pied Piper (56 votes) HDH (53 votes) Gamble and Huff (32 votes) Thanks to all who voted and took part. Just a bit of fun but some great names in the mix over the past few weeks polls eh? Big congrats to Lorraine! Tell Jack A you won and get him on here! Regards, Dave
  21. 4 more votes allowed before the closure of what is obviously the most important poll in the history of soul music since Keeraaang's 1978 poll! After a week of perfectly permissible lobbying, Pied Piper Productions are a short head in front of Holland Dozier and Holland. In the words of a well know animator....ANYTHING can happen in the next half-hour. Tell Me Your Mine v Love Is Like An Itching In My Heart I'm Gone v Something About You I'm Not Built That Way v One Way Out Your last shout peeps.... Regards, Dave https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLJkbZAb2js https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_lz-gzW0pg
  22. Only 9 more votes allowed! Gonna be a close run thing.... Regards, Dave
  23. And of course here the definitive version. Can't be bettered for me. Randazzo had Little Anthony's highly stylised performances down to pat. Combination made in heaven. Regards, Dave https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bnjuj7ipxac
  24. Another version that gets the odd play at ours. Ms Wilson does a real number on it. No big city production here, just a pitch perfect voice and the perfect vehicle for her. Regards, Dave https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLQZykhp7Sw
  25. Here's a 70s version that I played a couple of years ago and got a few asking about it. Mark Covington on lead vocals. Great record. Regards, Dave https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UYgb2_QGQE
