  1. The info in the run-out groove was only written/scratched/stamped once into the "mother stamper", all copies were then pressed from the mother stamper making the run-out groove markings on all copies of the 45 identical.
  2. A bit hard to read in these scans, but it just reads "Nashville Matrix" in fancy script:
  3. It's just easier. I gladly pay for stuff that makes my life easier.
  4. I agree, pricing things by going solely by Popsike is of no use. The prices are however the LAST thing I take notice of when I'm using Popsike. It's a massive hub of information about records, that's why it's so good.
  5. Posts a playlist = NOT worth his salt. Doesn't post a playlist = WORTH his salt. Apparently...
  6. Soundclip can be found on Manship's site: https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/d/154836/CENTRAL_POWER_SYSTEM It's a pity that the vocal wailings are so out of tune.
  7. I agree. Well worth the money.
  8. Anyone can/could press a record and have "SABAM" printed in plain text on the label. That doesn't make it official or legal.
  9. "VG" and "NM" are two very different grades.
  10. No, that's a reissue / repro / bootleg of some sort.
  11. I totally agree with you, I just commented on the fact that many of the records in for example rodw's list are good, not crap. Most of them are not cutting edge or extremely exciting, but good records that I would dance to. By the way would you really class the below (from rodw's list) as "oldies"? I.e. in the same league as Drake & The Ensolids etc? Markus Kelly - Pushing To The Top Frederick Knight - Steppin Down Martha Bass - Since I've Been Born Again Hot Ice Company - You Ain't Heard Nothing Yet Al Johnson & Angela Coulter - You Got To Make It For Yourself I'm obviously not at all a part of the UK northern soul scene, but the above are a bunch of records I've got myself and I've just kind of gotten the idea that tunes like the above have not been getting many spins in the past?
  12. Plenty of it is very good though.
  13. Thanks for the info everyone, I have amended the discography above.
  14. Definitely a "win" situation for you, it's a great 45.
  15. I've never seen it sell for that much. £75 at the very most, but almost always for less than that. But that is based on the auctions I've seen, I don't know what it goes for in sales boxes in the UK. Fantastic double-sider indeed! And thanks for a superb radio show.
  16. Has gone up a bit over the past couple of years. Usually fetches £40-£60 these days. Most issue copies I've seen have had bubbly labels.
  17. OK, didn't know that!
  18. Any additions to the below? FACES 3-1 - (1973) - Leo Price - The Bullet / I've Been A Prisoner FACES 3-10 - (1974) - L.C. Steels - Losin' Boy / Pretty Black Woman FACES 3-11 - (1974) - Ray Quarles - It's Gonna Be All Over / Ain't Love Good When It Rains FACES 2012 - (19xx) - Al Hill - Big Marie / Try To Be A Man FACES 2013 - (1976) - Speck And The G.H. Outlaw Gang - I Wonder About Myself / Hell Girl FACES 2014 - (19xx) - Si Perry - I Got Somebody Else Doing The Things You Used To Do / Si's Shuffle FACES 2015 - (1977) - George H. Franklin - Gone For Good / That's How It Is When You're In Love FACES 2015 - (1977) - George H. Franklin - Gone For Good / Someone Will Take Over Where You Leave Off FACES 2016 - (1977) - Ray Batts - Don't Take My Dreams / Love Me FACES 2017 - (19xx) - maybe no release or could be Sam Benson below, which has no Faces number on the label or run out FACES 2018 - (1978) - George H. Franklin - First Good Thing (Makes You Want More) / Satisfied FACES 2019 - (1978) - Chosen Few - I'm Alone' / Ooh! I Want You Baby CORD X-314/CORD X-315 - (1978) - Sam Benson - Disco Do You Believe In Disco / Stay With Me (Until The Morning Comes) The two issues of #2015 with different titles for the flipside both play "That's How It Is When You're In Love".
  19. Today I recieved the Bobby Dobyne 45 from soulgirl85 / Sara Sanchez / Mandy. It has got wear at the EXACT same spots as in the pictures that were used in the sales thread which I ordered the 45 from: The record is nowhere near the "EX-" grade, but I'm glad that I finally recieved the record.
  20. Yes, both the Larks and Body Motions 45s are from 1974. The cat#'s are the dates of when the 45 was pressed or mastered and should be read like this: HARTHON 102474 - Larks - Groovin At The Gogo HARTHON 103074 - Body Motions - Puttin' You On 102474 = 10/24/74 = 24th of October 1974 103074 = 10/30/74 = 30th of October 1974
  21. I really like her "If You Knew Him Like I Do" on the NATIONAL GENERAL label:
  22. All I know is that the other two tunes that Randolph Brown released on IX CHAINS also got a release on the BLACK MAGIC label: Steve: is your 45 BLACK MAGIC 002? Randolph Brown & Company - It Ain't Like It Used To Be / You Can Be Cured - IX CHAINS 7012 Randolph Brown & Company - I'm On A Sick Leave / Take A Few More Steps - IX CHAINS 7015 Randolph Brown & Company - Take A Few More Steps / You Can Be Cured - BLACK MAGIC 001
  23. Obviously a fuzzed garage rocker and not soul, but I really like the Yo-Yo's take on the same tune that Willie & The Handjives recorded on VEEP:
  24. I absolutely love their 45 on the RED GREG label. Immense string arrangement and superb vocals.
