  1. Auction prices are determined by incremental bidding competition, and as long as the reserve was met, it may well be due to a bidding war! Seen this many times with folks who just have to win at any cost.... Ed
  2. This could well have come straight from his own album... Ed
  3. Calm down calm down calm down... Ed
  4. Not heard Sam was in demise? Sad news if true. Or is it a fiction book with fake news? Ed
  5. So I assume Gloria Jones management company eventually settled their differences with the record producers etc and her version eventually got released? Or was it slipped out on the quiet? Rita has been on here a few times explaining she got sweet fa from the record profits at the time or ever since. Big time record discovered around 77 / 78 ? Unless I caught it second time around? Ed
  6. Did the Ann Perry instrumental ever get played? I think it's awful compared to the vocal. Ed
  7. The Northern Soul scene was dead an buried by 75/76? Probably if you were over 20 and married with a mortgage and chose to abandon ship. However I think another 5 years existed whereby it was alive and kicking, albeit under attack from the mohair jumper and drainpipe brigade. And even then it simply went underground as more patrons got married and had a mortgage. The debate goes on and on.. Ed
  8. Not sure how long ago.. Ed

Blurred lines? I can't stand reggae, then this comes along : I'm not really into blues...then this came along Don't get me started on blue eyed soul...here we go: So in short....everytime I have ' an opinion' I get shot down with a slice of danceable music. TSWONS.. Ed
  17. A bit like the motown museum in Detroit. If folks have not visited, do it soon..... It's going to be expanded exponentially and will be fantastic I'm sure, but will lose its quirkiness. Northern Soul is mainstream now whenever a fiver can be made, which is only natural. It seemed normal in the 70s to see .hundreds of teenagers wearing a kind of Northern Soul uniform, but seeing OAPs reviving the trend is OTT for me, and as stated beforehand, NS is a brand with no limits....even a Haynes manual cd for NS came out a few years back! Ed
  18. Sorry for your loss. A dear friend of mine passed this week and Roberta can certainly make you ponder what life is all about... Ed
  19. I think I got this LP around 76, and did not know any of the tracks, and certainly none were being played at Cleggy WG at the time. Maxine just blew me away, and the crescendo at the end is sublime. Gets right to the spot. Ed
  20. Superb ballad, but was it played at Wigan? Ed
  21. Just like this.. Someone's gonna do ya.. Ed
  22. And to think in 1983 it was all over... Nice to see it was definitely not! Ed
