Motown the musical - anyone?
Saw dream girls last month......Amazing. Amber Riley needs to get a recording contract...........As good as it get for a singer who can belt out a soulful sound. Talk about screaming? took my breath away. Cop this: Ed

Esther Phillips - I've Never Found A Man 1973
Great tune and such a unique voice. Did this ever get played at all nighter's as a new release back in the day? Mecca? Fits perfect for today's 'across the board' music policy. Ed

Bobby Freeman RIP
Fall in love surely has to be in most 'dancers' top 10. Bobby RIP, you inspired a generation into getting out on the floor. Ed

longest time before 'title kicks in'-what is it?
I can just about pick out one or two 'mumbles' that could be lend a hand or something like that by the backing singers. If anybody can hear more, and clearly, I'm jealous! Must be the worst choice of title from all the words mentioned, and its an ABC production!. One thing for sure if it was 'booted' it would not be titled 'lend a hand' Ed

Mr Flood's Party - Picture of Band
And for a soulful twist........Look out for Roberta Flacks version! Appropriate lyrics in the Trump Era. What goes around, eh? "Compared To What" Love the lie and lie the love Hangin' on, with a push and shove Possession is the motivation That is hangin' up the God-damn nation Looks like we always end up in a rut (everybody now!) Tryin' to make it real - compared to what? Slaughterhouse is killin' hogs Twisted children killin' frogs Poor dumb rednecks rollin' logs Tired old ladies kissin' dogs Hate the human, love that stinking mutt (I can't stand it!) Try to make it real - compared to what? The President, he's got his war Folks don't know just what it's for Nobody gives us rhyme or reason Have one doubt, they call it treason We're chicken-feathers, all without one gut (God damn it!) Tryin' to make it real - compared to what? (Sock it to me, now) Church on Sunday, sleep and nod Tryin' to duck the wrath of God Preacher's fillin' us with fright Tryin' to tell us what he thinks is right He really got to be some kind of nut (I can't use it!) Tryin' to make it real - compared to what? Where's that bee and where's that honey? Where's my God and where's my money Unreal values, crass distortion Unwed mothers need abortion Kind of brings to mind ol' young King Tut (He did it now) Tried to make it real - compared to what?!

longest time before 'title kicks in'-what is it?
I always thought this was actually miss-labled! I'd also love to know at what point exactly Lend A hand is mentioned in the Bobby Hutton classic. Ed

Duprees - Check Yoursef 1974
Same record as the ITALIAN ASPHELT PAVEMENT Co on Colossus? Love the record, bought it in the late 70's, but never heard it played anywhere? Ed

EBay High Flyers - Most Valued Soul Records - December 2016
Are there actually any 'top rarities' where there is only the one copy? A millionaire could not afford to buy the top 500 rarities............probably. What recession? Ed

First all nighter record that you remember most
Cleethorpes Winter Gardens 1976, and a month before my 15th Birthday......................went along with the bigger boys. Massive Massive Massive - Flirtations - Little Darling. At least 3 or 4 plays during the night. Accompanied by Jeanette Harper, Rain, and Blanche Carter. Of course as a young un, the poppy tunes were always the easiest to remember! Ed

A History and Geography of Northern Soul from the late 1990s
Interesting how each aspect of why 'the Northern Soul scene is what it is' gets the microscope treatment, and its more predictable due to circumstance than unique due to the product. Somehow spoils the concept that it was just a series of unintentional coincidences that brought it all together! I'm sure they are right, and I am wrong, but I prefer my theory. KTF Ed

Motown the musical - anyone?
Saw it in New York and it was packed..................A good show. As with all stories, with time they get 'fuzzy' so don't take it too literally. Always t shirts and cd's to buy at the end, but you wont find any rare stuff! Ed
