Just played a few records and YT vids and read all previous posts. My nominee for the best ever dramatic beat ballads is: anyone disagree?

I know that Brad Lundy and Deena Johnson are the same songs but didn't know that Chuck Jackson did it as well. What is it like?

well, I did, see post #29. Though I have to say that I'm not too keen on "Never loved her anyway". BTW, I have it on a UK London demo.

another great beat ballad: the album-only take by little anthony is way better but couldn't find it on youtube.

here are a few highlights of my little beat ballad/slowie collection, (i prefer the dramatic big orchestra plus kitchen sink production sort of beat ballads) rocky roberts - if he could epsilons - i'm so devoted roy hamilton - the sinner big maybelle - oh lord what are you doing dee dee warwick - i can't go back jimmy beaumont - you got too much going for you roy hamilton - panic is on
  6. What do you reckon, how many 60s soul record were released over there? Just wondering...
  7. You might be right. I know it went for over $2.000 a few years ago. But don't know what it's going for nowadays
  8. Sorry, what's your point? Is it that seller advertises simultaneous on SS and Ebay? Or is it that seller's SS is about 300/400 quid above the current rate?* WTF is HTMHF? * assuming that the Sweets are still four figure?
  9. EP was released in 2012. so boot/reissue whatever one calls it.
  10. sure is. looks like seller (or seller's pal) tried to raise winning bid but exaggerated (correct word?) eventually. or seller tested the water to see what it could fetch. 50 quid would be quite cheap tho.
  11. Been told before that you really suck when dj'ing while driving
  12. Seems like some are getting too paranoid. Tunes 'getting nicked' by others too lazy to get their own tunes? Bullshit. Period. If you have any 'elusive' tunes you don't want us to see, just leave them out of your playlist and post the rest. NB: stig lindberg, must be a sad life if you could dance to uptempo tunes only. I feel sorry for you.
  13. Chalky, any chance you could put both parts on say divshare for downloading?
  14. i think he sold 1-2 copies individually and then put a batch of around 10 copies on ebay. makes it pretty rare IMO.
  15. Just spotted Billy harner - Got to check you out on V-Tone @ 70 quid on a sales liste from april 2012. Looks pretty cheap to me for a record that is known for a dozen or less copies. Or did more copies turn up since that one find 12/18 months ago?
  16. 3,9% less than Manship, priced to sell?
  17. Wow, this sold for less than on Soul Source. Unbelievable.

Don't you get the same message when trying to bid on an US-only auction?
  19. Worst version I know of is by the Johnson Bros on german-only 45. It's awful, can't bear to even think about it.
  20. This also came out in Italy. With a picture sleeve but unfortunately not a pic of Brenda
  21. Unless this has risen in value again 300 is just about what it's worth, isn't it?
  22. Do you know more about that loophole? I know the guy/guys behind Marginal used it to issue 100s of bootleg CDs. Might be just urban myth but was told that the bootleggers were safe as long as they sold their "products" only in Belgium but one bloke got busted as he sold his CDs all over the world. Any truth behind that? BTW, are you saying spanish Chubby Checker is not legit?
  23. From an aesthetic point of view the multi coloured US issue is the one to have IMO. UK Pye release might be the rarest but looks boring (again IMO). BTW, Chris if you really think this sounds like an 80s recording you may need to have your hearing aid re-calibrated
  24. The comedy lies in the details: "Hard to find 45s with a Low Start Price AND NO RESERVE !!"
