  1. Thanks for posting that. I just bought the album on iTunes, just on the strength of that track.
  2. It might be not rare but it rarely is for sale (IMO)
  3. Same old story. The rarer a record is the less are buyers concerned about the condition. I mean if somebody offers you a VG- worn labels Mello Souls for a grand would you buy it? I surely would.
  4. Wanted: Jimmy Conwells album on Guinness Scott Bros "My day has come" on Smash 45 Please PM with condition and price. Reasonable prices paid. Don't bother if you want over the top prices. Thanks! Benji
  5. Unless you're looking for Haddaway "what is love" the track you want is called "what about love"
  6. These came all from the NY Jobete office didn't they? Sid Barnes, George Kerr ,etc.
  7. Wilson Pickett is on a german 45 Another album only goodie Metros - I'll never forget you.
  8. Not sure if I fully understand the original question but these songs were done by Motown artists, although unreleased. (NB: not 100% sure about Sparkels) unreleased take of the Sparkels was recorded by Norma Jenkins, a non-Motown artist. So it doesn't qualify for this thread does it? Lonely girl was done by Brenda Holloway titled "Lonely boy".

    Where?
  10. Another month another ShelterCast! My favourite local soul night "Deeper Shade" at the Atomic Cafe here in Munich celebrates its 15th anniversary this year. It started as a bi-weekly event for the first few years. Monthly now it still gets a large number of punters through the doors. To commemorate the anniversary this month's episode features a live DJ set from yours truly, recorded on the day 15 years ago. I used to be a resident DJ for the first few years and think the podcast showcases the high quality of sounds played back then pretty good. For some technical reasons there's a small glitch between the tracks but nothing too distracting. Sorry about that. 1 * Is it over baby * The Kittens 2 * You're falling in love * Betty Everett 3 * My conscience * The Lovelites 4 * Wait for me * The Montclairs 5 * Let me pour all my love * Jonny Rome 6 * Call on me * The Presentations 7 * I remember * Anthony & The Aqualads 8 * You are the one I love * Adam's Apples 9 * Baby can't you see * Little Tommy 10 * Someday * The Tempests 11 * In love * Tony Galla 12 * One way lover * The Volumes 13 * Get hip to yourself * Soul Shakers 14 * Earthquake * Roy Hamilton 15 * A way to love you * Shades Of Blue 16 * Chains of love * The Drifters 17 * Somebody's always trying * Ted Taylor 18 * That's the way I feel * Soul Sisters 19 * Chills and fever * Ronnie Love 20 * I'm stuck on my baby * Irene & The Scotts 21 * I'm gonna do it by myself * Jimmy Preacher Ellis 22 * Of hopes, dreams & tombstones * Youth Opportunity Program 23 * Lookie, lookie * The Kittens 24 * Baby boy * Buster Jones 25 * I'll try * Sam & Bill 26 * Seven days of loving you * Johnny Vanelli 27 * Let it all reach out * Four Pros 28 * Somebody else's sweetheart * The Wanderers 29 * Brand new man * Richard 'Popcorn' Wylie 30 * I'm gonna get you * Soulville Allstars 31 * That's the way * The Q 32 * Hit and run * Rose Batiste 33 * If you ever walk out of my life * Dena Barnes https://soundsfromthe....podomatic.com/
  11. If this is the future I'm happy to live in the present (and past). Both vid's just pathetic. That Woolard bloke got a good voice but what he did to 'Come get to this' is a crime.
  12. As good as they are but none of them are "beat ballads" IMHO. Midtempo more like.
  13. "Merry go round" proper Northern but flipside is pretty weak. his blue eyed voice isn't just good enough for a song like that.
  14. Timmion = heavy metal disc coated acetate Vinyl carvers = thin carved vinyl discs
  15. Email sent yesterday but no reply?
  16. Seeing the price tag that Ms. Vicki comes with it's hardly under the radar isn't it? More the case too rare to get wider exposure I think. Great sound nevertheless.
  17. What does mizax mean? And how do you pronounce it? Am confused....
  18. Get the album ("waters") on iTunes or so. Highly recommended if you're into Jazz.
  19. I love it. Such a haunting tune. Might be overplayed everywhere but as I rarely go out these days it still sounds fresh to me. Unlike that Papa Bear record that bored me the 2nd time I heard it.

Mark Williams, blue eyed singer from NZ. Nice one, didn't know it came out on 45. Edit: quick google revealed the 45 made #13 in the NZ charts in 1977. Edit#2: not blue eyed
  21. I agree with you on all songs but Dean Parrish. He sure wasn't a "poppy northern white singer"!!!!
  22. First one is really nice, I like it. Second one not for me, didn't pass my Quality Control department.
  23. re. Mike & Ray / Sandpipers: Two of my alltime favourites! Mike & Ray, vocally a bit weak I admit but what a backing! The built up to the chorus is wonderful. Sounds fantastic played out loud. Sandpipers is just a perfect record IMO, there's nothing I would change in it if I could.
