David Rhodes - Hung Up In Mid Air
From what I remember there are two presses? One original and one a rather belated 2nd press?

Comedy Sale Of The Day
Couldn't believe that so I tried it myself. Reported the Voodoo boot to Ebay. Works fine. No need to download or fax anything. Won't stop Ebay to do nothing about it though.

Soul Source To Move To Facebook
Finally! Looking forward to it. Just joined FB just for it. Any chance to have separate chat sessions about John Manship auctions and overpriced pressings on Ebay? I'd surely miss both...

Rob Marriott Tape From September 1992
- John Powney
As I came across this the other day. I visited John in june 1995 to buy some records. I brought a blank C60 tape with me to ask him if he could record some of his favourites and mail the tape back to me. to my surprise he just handed over his dj box and told me to pick out any record I like and record it myself in his front room! Here's the outcome: little ann - lean lanky daddy - unissue ric tic ruby andrews - wonderful nite - zodiac stemmons express - woman love thief - karma al gardner - i'll get along - lu pine baby huey - just being carefull - usa september jones - i'm coming home - kapp september jones - no more love - kapp jimmy & entertainers - new girl - toddlin' town metros - I'll never forget you - rca (LP) holly maxwell - only when you're loney - constellation seminoes - cheating heart - bell acetate monique - i wouldn't believe - maurci m.b.'s - another day - b-jet natural four - hangint on to a lie - boola boola archie bell - a 1000 wonders - spanish atlantic reggie soul - my world of ecstasy - capri bobby williams - only got myself to blame - sureshot ascots - anytime - mir a don ascots - another day - mir a don tommy dodson - one day love - uptown showmen - a little bit of your love - joker 3 del chontays - baby i need you - steeltown tony amaro - running around - loma rocky gil - it's not the end - tear drop otis lee - hard row to hoe - quaint- Neanderthal Soulie Goes Back To School
PS: if you like Carla you sure like Chuck as well (if you don't know it already). What a record!- Neanderthal Soulie Goes Back To School
I sort of agree. They should have released it. But not this version. It definitely sounds like a sparse demo take. Of course that's part of its charm. But I guess the buying public in the 60s wouldn't have liked it like that.- Biggest Nighter Tunes Of The Last Ten Years
Oldies scene or upfront?- Does Anyone Know Of This?
My copy is stereo and more like VG-. Doesn't sound that good. Are there mono copies as well?- 70's Dancers On Rare German Issues: M. Mccormick, Al Downing
Updated- Rob Marriott Tape From September 1992
I just had a look in the record room, no result * I'm afraid it looks like they're stored away at my parent's. Will take some time till I get my hands on that stuff. But from what I recall, inlay of vol1 was green, vol2 was light brown. * but what i found was a tape I did from John Powney's DJ box back in 1995. will post a track list in the John Powney thread.- Sammy Davis Jr # I Like The Way You Dance
That really surprises me. Not that I think SDjr is crap. But it certainly doesn't sound like a big hall Northern record to me. More like a 60s Mod sound. BTW, german UA as well.- Rob Marriott Tape From September 1992
Chris made two sound of Detroit tapes. have them both somewhere.- Rob Marriott Tape From September 1992
One of the first UK collectors I started swapping tapes with was Rob's brother Chris. In 93 or so he made me two tapes with many of Rob's biggies plus a few assorted oldies. These tapes really shaped my taste in 60's soul. Thank you Rob (and Chris)- Rob Marriott Tape From September 1992
Which one is Barons of Soul and which one is the United Four c/up? IMO the version with the trumpet intro is crap. The other is brill.- Record Cleaner
I tried it and still use it. Forget the fluid that comes with it. It works but it's only good for one or two rounds. Even if you use the filter tissues. Mix your own fluid. I use water and soap. Was told pure water and window cleaner is much better. Don't know the ratio tho. 2:3 or so? Better google it. I usually clean my records using tap water and soap. But when I buy a job lot of records or a record is really dirty I use my anti-stat. Works every time.- Any Rocksteady Experts Here ?
Compared to Pete I know f*ck all about Rocksteady or Reggae. But he's right. Pure Reggae rhythm.- Sammy Davis Jr # I Like The Way You Dance
Had plays in the past. Although more on the 6T's/Mod scene I believe. There's a Youtube poster who claims it was a late Wigan Casino by R. Searling but I think that's just rubbish. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HL4oU2Kr2yI- "look Into My Heart" La Soul Angel City Record's Xiantoni Ari Live
Great video. Thanks! At least this time the horns got it right and don't sound off-key like on the Ree Flores record.- Velvet Hammer
- The Tiger Dolls / Tiger Doll Show / The Enquires - German Release?
Now back home I was able to play the YT vid. Ok'ish record. But nothing special IMHO. Definitely obscure tho. Looks like a private press thing.- The Tiger Dolls / Tiger Doll Show / The Enquires - German Release?
Never seen or heard of it before but it's definitely german. Can't play the vid at work. is it any good? Drop me a line if you ever think about selling. Would be a nice addition to my KrautsPress collection.- Lucky Jamal Davis - Vacate - Love Is Better
'Vacate' had plays on the continental soul scene in the late 90s/early 00s. Back then many copies around. It isn't that rare in the meaning that only few copies are known. It's rare in the meaning that only a few copies come up for sale because most copies are tucked away in collections. There was a thread on SS about Luckey Davis a few years ago from what I recall. I think he was even on board or at least somebody posted a contact email address of him? BTW, he also did "I was born to love you" as Mr. Lucky. - John Powney
