  1. yes, might well have been. In fact I think it was a copy on THAT other label... when you see Andy ask for the label please
  2. nice mix indeed. Out of this nice selection I can`t recommend Your Love Is Indescribably DeliciousBy Willis Wooten (Virtue) enough..a great cheapie with a nice funky flipisde. Have it in my box currently for further spin action (although I might should not have said so as this will put a few people off now LOL)
  3. Think you are right Pete. Book prices ? only for the high end or strongly indemand stuff. And most of the time only if you have a well established web shop/auction and client base. Other than that and you better forget it. Situation has pretty much become like I predicted it to become almost ten years ago... high end 45s = still occasionally rising, "middle" priced stuff = decreasing and hard to sell, basic record builders and fillers = dead. Why ? Because the UK scene -especially record buying scene- is almost dead. Most serious UK collectors are in their (late) fifties / early sixties, have most of what they want, dont want to pay rididulous prices for "new" stuff or records that are missing in their collections. Hotboxing DJ`s cant afford/risk to buy heavy high priced 45s as they know they wont be able to sell them again for what they paid for once they decide to move the thing on. And on the bottom ? Nothing. No new blood. No new collectors. Bad economy also adds its share to it. European Scene ? Thankfully different. But lets be honest to ourselves here: Despite the Nighters and weekenders attendances being extremely well the European scene still hasnt got enough serious collectors and DJ`s to fill the gap of the UK scene when it comes to create or substitute a demand. Having said that nine and a half new collectors and buyers out of ten are from the continent these days. Which does say it all really..
  4. 250 is the book price...but seems to be hard to sell.
  5. seen another one going thru ebay some years ago. didnt this also came out on a nother label (rarity would vote against this my theory) ? FL`s last and final 45. A tried comeback organised by the guy who owned big apple and used to be frankie lymons manager Sam Bray . As Frankie Lymon due to an overdose didnt live long enough to witness the release of the reocrd it sank without a trace.
  6. by the way..fabulous tune and one I will need to buy back one day. Wouldnt pay more than 250 UKP though, especially not for teh WD which is way less rare opposed to the issue.
  7. sold my issue (vg+) for around that...may have been 250 UKP. So guess about right ?
  8. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE GET THOSE 100 COPIES FROM GINO WASHINGTON ONTO THE MARKET ??!! LOL
  9. now, many times when news about another sad loss appeared on here I said to myself "oh no, not him/her (already)" often being deeply saddened by the loss of an artist who has given me so much...but this time I am especially shocked, touched and sad. what a great voice he had, what monumental status his recordings had, haveand will continue to have. Last year I was in contact with Lou and his management trying to bring him over for our yearly New Years Eve Weekender. But sadly time was too short to finalize what would have been another dream of my life becoming reality..having brought him over to perform in Berlin. And now it is too late... RIP Lou Pride.

  17. was that with the orig company sleeve ? If yes, 348 without out the sleeve ;)
  18. yes, the great George Jackson from Memphis. Old Thorsten Wegener (aka puresoul) spin from Hamburg. Took me a good few years to get hold of one too ( well, dave LOL). Seen a few slipping thru ebay since then not being listed as Soul hence at a very VERY low price...lowest ever was a buy it now 5 USD..AND I MISSED IT as it was the day after a Hip City LOL I highly recommend his Doro and Dar-Cha 45s as well by the way. Marc
  19. try andreas dienel, saw a copy in his sales box at bamberg soulshakers three weeks ago
  20. very sad indeed. will play them all later when at home and raise a glass.
  21. A nice piece of history indeed. these kinda things, special editions for the olympic games in 1936, are not as rare as one would like to think though. You find them over here quite regulary on the flea markets. Which is quite amazing bearing in mind they are almost 76 years old and survived the allied bombardements as well as the heavy battle of Berlin at the end of the war.
  22. Hip City is on Soundcloud as well
  23. freddy butler sold btw
