  1. Its not the clothes that make it cool, its the demeanor & the attitude.... Russ
  2. You need to change your medication mate. Best Russ
  3. I dont have an issue with Blue or Brown Eyed Soul, but surely it should be at least soulful, for it to be of interest on a soul forum, not just on a British label & rare ?. Best Russ
  4. Now that is orrible...oh dear, why would you want this when the 'best' version by Willis Wooten is still relatively available ???. What is all the fuss about ?. Russ
  5. I also played it Covered Up as Rocky Roberts, I cant remember, but I may have had Saus's copy ?....bloody sold it like a tw*t !. Russ
  6. Hey Steve, hope you are well. What you are saying may well be true & above board mate, but it is my understanding, that IF the carvers from this collection are counterfeit, even if you have bought them in good faith, by selling them on again, even unknowingly, you may still be liable ?. I don't think it is worth risking your business & or reputation, over a misunderstanding on a discs authenticity, even though as I you say, you may have bought in good faith. Best Russ
  7. Like both versions in different ways, but Spyders is a bit spesh innit... Russ
  8. United Sounds has to be one of the finest records discovered in the last few years, absolutely amazing record in every way...when I hear this its the old stampede to the dance floor, if I aint there already...i do not have enough words to say how much I love this record....sorry Terry lol Best Russ
  9. I'm not sure Benji, but the Patti Austin (actually Ad Libs), was with Shifty for some time, now with Butch I believe, but I know Carl & Shifty used to do the odd deal so maybe its a cut ?. Best Russ
  10. Thats brilliant mate, thanks for the info much appreciated. Best Russ
  11. Yes, think so mate, but what I'm interested in is, are both copies studio acetates or are they cut from tapes - are they both the same version or are they different takes ?. Look forward to any info. Thanks Russ
  12. Tis a brilliant LP, wasn't the track above known from an un credited acetate & played out for a while ?, might getting mixed up with something else tho ? Best Russ

  15. Clyde Brown ?...thought we were discussing Clyde Wilson Mark... Best Russ
  16. When it was first played it was considered a very rare record, the Soul Pot copy was the first to be played, I heard it at Soul Essence & was lucky to pick up one of those very elusive first copies, I remember playing it at the 100 Club, probably early 9ts & quite a few coming to have a look, was of course a big record for me at the Uptown Down South Soul Nights & Nighters. I think it was Shifty who found the first Eastern copy, which at the time caused a bit of a stir. As previously stated its only more recently that they have become more readily available. Not sure how many copies have turned up, but if it has given the record more exposure then that's a good thing. Best Russ
  17. Bang on Garry. Petty Officer RN Rtd Russ
  18. I think the guy just wanted a bit of advice mate, 'An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion'. Best Russ
  19. Ay up Scal (Mike), what's wrong with you ???....why don't you try being positive sometimes, I didn't think that I'd seen anything recently from you other than derogatory comments, I did wonder if you were just a troll !....a very cursory glance at your contributions, appear to confirm my thoughts.....cheer up & put some of that negativity into adding something positive into SS, I man of your years of soulful experience must have some fantastic knowledge, memories & opinions to share...... Best Russ
  20. Absolutely bang on Ian. Best Russ
  21. Really looking forward to the film & Elaine will do it justice for sure. The soundtrack comes with the territory & I hope it sells well. What I cant & never can understand, is why people try to deny that the scene was fuelled by amphetamines, 99.9% of those that attended Allnighters were kept up all night dancing because of the use of speed. Nobody is trying to glorify it, it just was & for very, very many people it was all part & parcel, for some it still is to this day, I find it totally ridiculous that you can just sweep it under the carpet, almost laughable really.....I also find the suggestion insulting, that just because you dropped a few caps you had no appreciation of the music, without naming names, some of the most respected & knowlegeable people on the scene had a mis spent youth shall we say & some of the best record collections were allegedly financed through it....I have the greatest respect for everybodies opinion, but some of the holier tha thou drivel really gets my gander !!!. I was serving in the Armed Forces, so even if I had wanted to partake, I couldnt have, but seriously, I cant think of one of my civillian friends who didnt, not one....If the film doesnt deal with the subject realistically, then it wont be the real deal, it happen(s)ed....get over it & stop trying to white wash us, I feel sorry for those that didnt go, but have a passing interest in what it was like, when folk pretend certain things didnt happen.... The film will be brilliant, I know Elaine & she will have made sure that it is as true to life as possible, now lest wait & see. Best Russ
  22. That was bloody sensational - I hope PS's phone is red hot, cos he needs to get over here pronto, n that band are as tight as a gnats ass, superb...well done Dig Deeper !!!
  23. A curator (from Latin: curare meaning "take care") is a manager or overseer.
  24. Thats my perception Martyn, I'm sure Ady will put us all right at some point, but in essence sounds like a brilliant idea, as long as you keep the 'essence' of the club & the curators are aware of the vibe, then can only enhance what is already a great Nighter IMO. Russ
