  1. Did 2 gigs with Oliver this year...still shocked ! RIP x
  2. When I used to go to John Manships shop in King Street Melton Mowbray, when he was running his Video Empire, he had Tony Middleton Black Issues at £2 each or 3 for a Fiver, I took 3 to re-sell, must have had 60-80 on the shelf ! Also there were Mint Musicor Demos of Jimmy Ratcliffe & Dean Parrish. in about the same numbers ! I bought Carol & Gerri off The Rev Tony Clayton in the 70s when he Auctioned Nev Wherry's Records after he died (79 ?), I still have it and if I play it out always think of Nev ! The "B" side was played by John Kingan at the Hollingwood Hotel early 90s --that's where you know it from Chalky ! Rob
  3. Can't see if any one has posted this.........Jimmy Mack "My world is on fire" B/W "Go on" on an obscure local Detroit First issue label. 2 great sides, first surfaced around 73, fits the bill....and the Just Brothers turned up didn't it ? Other than that I'd like it to be Don Varner on Veep just to see it ! Rob
  4. No Bootleg sheep, no fakes on Northern scene.....
  5. "‹I'm constantly amazed at the records Pat Brady and John Anderson turn up for sale in spanking mint condition ! We forget that all 45s were in this condition once !
  6. Melvin Davis tell the story of "find a quiet place", which he actually took to the distributors around Detroit and surrounding areas himself, as the record was a flop, it wasn't worth the gas money to go and fetch them back ! he says it was a 500 press run... Distributors would gather stock that hadn't sold and keep it for a set period of time for the owners to re-claim..then drill holes through the labels to show they were stock clearance and not full price items and sell them off in job lots by the 1,000s ! Rob
  7. Shoot em ! Killing one of my all time favourite records !
  8. Good old Russ, well done !
  9. Cody Black Rip View full article

  11. He build that record box with the flashing LEDs, when you opened it it was full of batteries and gumph to make them work--with room for 5 records at the back !!! LEGEND !
  12. John he DJs every month at Stewarts do at Shuttlewood, as far as I know he's still at the same address in Clowne, He bought the FIRST EVER ticket to ANY event at the refurbished Brid Spa (which happened to be a Brid #2 Weekender ticket) and see him very regularly around, although I think he missed Brid this time. Still the same ! Rob

  22. All money from the sale of these 45s goes directly to Melvin himself. Please PM to reserve due to limited numbers Thanks Rob
  23. Ok a trio of Rock Mill 45s for sale --all now deleted and remnants for Melvin Davis himself, when these have gone that's it ! Melvin recently moved house in Detroit and found just 5 of the Liz Taylor pic Sleeve 45s- these were used for promotional copies so Melvin tells me-£25 in Manships book. Liz Taylor "Over and Under" Rock Mill RM 1923 PIC Sleeve £20 Mel Davis "Cash Flow" Rock Mill £15 Melvin & Bryan Davis " I need my baby" / "Nothings too good for you" Rock Mill 1117 £10 Add £2 postage for 1- 3 records.
